Sorry for your loss. I think you did the right thing by backing off. When my first husband and I divorced I was hurting pretty bad, but I figured it was a good time for self reflection. So I took about 3 years to heal myself. I'm glad I did.

I think after a major life change, most people are vunerable and open to being taken advantage of. I wish Art all the best and you too.

Or (rarely) just the opposite. After my divorce from my first wife I was so afraid of any deep relationship I ran scared for 15 years! Plenty of girlfriends, but any hint of “love” or (horrors!) “marriage” and I bolted like a rabbit. Fortunately Sheryl cured me. I’m in something similar to that now, afraid losing another loved wife to death.
I really should be looking for another cure.
