I agree, if he is ready or desiring to be in another relationship, to who and how soon is his business.

In a word, no! The impropriety of seeking a new mate "too soon" is in the eyes of those who aren't faced with the issue. While it is undoubtedly true that one is not thinking very clearly while suffering grief and is also highly vulnerable, I have known seemingly rapid re-marriages which have been successful (but only where longterm friends have been concerned)!

I have even known actual cases where dying spouses have suggested suitable candidates to their mates! It is not just a bizzare movie script......
