"More intelligent than most reported studies by ufology 'physicists'."
I'm trying to to see how that is a true statement. It depends what you are talking about in the Ufology milieu. Few physicists look at the propulsion power source and methods themselves, though the pop-culture types often speculate without any basis in science.
There have been a few disciplined people who have looked at the issue with rigor, though. Paul Hill comes to mind as the chief example.

Let me clarify: The "pop-culture type" would be those without real scientific background, but able to string together a cat's cradle of science jargon, regardless of true scientific connectivity. Bob Lazar, and others.

I don't recall if Stan Friedman did, or not. Do you recall?

I don't have an answer for that at the moment. I can ask him though.

Please do ask him and tell him that I very much enjoyed his presentation at the Aztec conference recently.

Mornin' Quix.
Here was Stan's reply:
"A few references might be useful. My congressional Testimony at the hearings of July 29, 1968, is somewhere on the Web (Symposium on Unidentified Flying Objects - Hearings before the Committee on Science and astronautics). It is in two parts and includes 65 references, a list of 10 patents for circular aircraft and a copy of an article Flying Saucers ARE Real with more references. The volume has 11 other papers by Hynek, Sagan, McDonald, Menzel, Sprinkle, Harder, etc
My 1974 MUFON paper, Flying Saucers and Physics, is 18 pages, 2 columns and has 69 References. It is still available from me at POB 958, Houlton, ME 04730-0958 USA for $4. which includes shipping.
My 1999 MUFON paper, Star Travel? YES!, is also 18 pages long and has 18 References... also $4. from me.
The above cover a lot of ground, but not much about very
speculative far out propulsion systems. Magnetoaerodynamics, fission, fusion... are all discussed."
