CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Bucky Covington, the latest contestant voted off "America Idol," says the comments of judge Simon Cowell are no longer helpful.
"It seems like he used to give advice, but now he doesn't give advice as he does try to put you down," said Covington, 28, a country singer from Rockingham.
On Tuesday, Covington sang a version of rock band Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls." Cowell called his performance "mediocre." The following night, Covington was booted off the Fox network show.
Covington said Cowell will never like singers like himself or contestant Taylor Hicks.
"For him to like someone like me or Taylor is out of the question. No matter what we do, he's not going to like us. We're just not his thing," he said.
His departure slimmed the "Idol" hopefuls to seven. The winner is set to be named May 24.

Bucky could work that circuit.
That'd be my advice.
I hope it is helpful.

Simon seems to 'help' more contestants than others...http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1613746/posts
Poor ol' Bucky. Get over it dude. I believe Simon said that Bucky was akin to a bad karaoke performer. Spot on.
I guess simon gets pick of the litter.
I wish I could use photochop and make post 19 with a big big belly .. lol

She's a purty one, for sure.
Simon helps Simon.
He has stated that he doesn't "own" the American Idol show but he does "own" the records. I take that to mean that he will share in the revenue from CDs of the American Idol winners and near winners. Given that, he is obviously motivated to favor those that he believes have a commercial sound, i.e. those that appeal to people between 10 and 26. They are the ones buying all the CDs.
It's just business as usual. No harm. No foul.
What was the theme of that's years prom 'Whores of Arabia?' lol, Even for a rollersaking waitress at Sonic, that is a trashy getup...
AI, Bucky ping!
Simon has been sticking to just simple statements, for the most part this season.
Bucky sucked. He should have been off weeks ago. I love Country music but he made even country sound like crap.
I respect simon and randy for their years in the industry, paula I could take or leave..
I thing
Ace is next, btw
Bucky would make a good general.
I agree, Ace's days are numbered.
Are you on the AI live thread ping list? If not, you should join us. It's great fun and silent_jonny is a wonderful host.
Yo dawg, America voted aaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnndddddddddd, Bucky, they AGREED with Simon, buh bye! Get over yourself!
LOL! That must suck for you since he's gone now.
Yes, but he remains in my heart.
From your keyboard to America's ears.
He's right you know.
Simon has become a jaded prick. He is not the "tell it like is is".."Oo he's so honest and straight up" person that people claim to respect him for. He's just a plain ol' run of the mill a-hole.
Ace shoulda have been voted off ths last time, not Bucky, and Taylor should go all the way.
Simon is out of touch with the rest of America. Whatever he likes, gets the lowest numbers of votes, whatever he hates gets more votes. I used to respect him but he's lost me, he's just an ass.
And Paula is wel... Paula.. which leaves the only judge I respect, Randy Jackson, who really IS the honest "tell it like it is" guy people think Simon is, but who actually has some tact in dealing with people.
They just gave Paula a 3 year contract, they must be cleaning up on this show. If I was Randy, I'd ask for a raise too but I think he just re-inked not so long ago, simon too, not sure of lengths of contracts tho.
