New York Times ^

The Durham County district attorney said today that the woman who accused three Duke lacrosse players of raping her at an off-campus party last month had identified at least one of them in a photo montage last week........... "There was no identification of any member of that lacrosse team until last week," the district attorney, Michael B. Nifong, said at an informational meeting today attended by more than 400 people at North Carolina Central University, where the woman was a student. He was answering a question about why no one has been arrested.

Since the NCCU audience was so adamant about speculating the scenario in which the racial roles were reversed...

I'll ask for a bit more speculation. :o)

What if the accuser AND THE ACCUSED had BOTH BEEN BLACK?

I dare say...I do not believe there would be ONE IOTA of outrage from the black community. Not a single raised eyebrow.

I believe the whore would be accused of trying to get pregnant from a future professional athlete...EVEN IF NO SEX TOOK PLACE!

I believe there would be no "forum"...no accusations of DNA tampering...no concern for "justice"...

I believe we'd have never even heard about it.

Is it even legal for the DA to run around willy-nilly, collecting DNA from people, until he finds a match?

This doesn't seem like due process, does it?

In re your post: In another thread, there exists a timeline. 30 minutes being raped? Doesn't fit with the official timeline.

I was switching back and forth between MSNBC and FoxNews yesterday, but did anyone hear them say that the accuser claims that when she walked into the house, one of the guys asked her if she brought any sex toys. When she said no, one of the guys said, "Then we'll just have to use a broom." After that, a guest prosecutor said that it explains the fact that there wasn't any DNA from the guys and that the investigators are now looking for the broom.

I see. So after being threatened with a broom, she goes back to the house, all smiles, to get her shoe.

Where's Toto?

TexKat, I've keyworded lots of articles about the "interfaith" groups. They are liberal, socialist and vote Democrat. Support the UN, etc.

I heard a clip of their "event" today. I guess the male speaker the news clipped has been Listening to Gregorian Chants. He was sporting his "holy sepulchre" voice from beyond the beyond... wwwwOOOOooooooo.

"She never said one thing about Duke, any athlete or anything," the source said. "She just kept hollering and screaming. She never said who did it."

You're 100% correct on that. They must really live miserable existences to be so bitter.

From what I understand, the DA needs a warrant unless a person volunteers a sample.

Since this case is so high profile and the team members knew that they were innocent, they went along and volunteered.

but I think Nancy was devoted to one man...her fiancee, wasn't it? After he was killed, seems like she went off the deep when it comes to any other. Do I have it right?

You are correct - it was here in Atlanta I think. Since that time she have never met person that she didn't think was guilty.

I really don't understand her popularity. Who exactly is her fan base?

Bad move IMO. The two guys who shared the bathroom will now have DNA tied to the alleged crime scene. A little victim coaching, and we have two suspects to charge. Email guy probably becomes the third.

Something else was curious to me. 46 white players gave their samples, but according to reports three of them were in NYC when this supposedly occurred. I'll assume these three gave DNA as a show of support to those that were at the party? If so, it is telling that team member 47 didn't also volunteer. Does he know something? Or is he afraid to publicly show support for his teammates, regardless of if he knew the charges were bunk or not?

And just in case you don't know, I am a woman! Two more pathetic women I've never seen.

They make my SKIN CRAWL.

The player would be suspended until the investigation was completed. This has been the routine treatment of many football players at many different schools.

Staytrue, good job in this thread. I certainly think the Duke players are innocent, but the cancelling of the season and the suspension of the players were all within protocol and within the rights of the school.

That being said, the Duke student body and student government has been disgraceful during this ordeal. I have seen huge wanted posters displayed on the campus and protest marches with large numbers of Duke students. Duke students have also gone on national TV to participate in the lynching of these guys. The Duke student body has basically thrown these guys under a bus.

After this display, it will be hard recruit any non-basketball male athlete to Duke. It's obvious that student body hates the athletes there (where are the cameron crazies?) so why do they even field a team.

Duke should have never allowed wanted posters of the players to be displayed on campus. Would they have allowed that if all of the accused faces were black or hispanic?

In a sane world, finding DNA on a bathroom towel is perfectly normal as people do tend to dry their hands off after washing them.

Unfortunately, you are probably right - Wendy Murphy and Nancy Grace are already hawking this as semen. The email guy will probably be the third just like you said. Of course, they will take his words out of context to do it.

Attacking the victim as a "slut" is fair bounds, but please let's not even start to impugn the impeccable character of the lacrosse players.

You're kind of twisting things a bit.

(1) Strippers, especially those that do house calls, aren't the most reliable people in the world.

(2) The evidence and story of the stripper seem very contrived and inconsistent.

Strippers are of low moral standing, but the people who hire them are not? I have to admit, I'm confused by your tortured line of reasoning.

Sure. I know it may seem "tortured" to you but it's the real world.

College guys having a stripper is nothing shocking or unusual - these same guys go off and live normal lives and families and contribute to society. For strippers, it is their life and their livelihood. See the difference?

By your definition, there is no difference in a person who watches a porn video and the people that are in them.

I believe you have your answer in the Mike Tyson case or in the case of Whitney Houston and her husband, or Ike and Tina Turner.

To make it even more simple, who would you trust more - a college boy who visits a strip club with some of his friends of the guy who runs one?

You see, workers in the strip club and night club business in general have to deal with shady people day after day. If they aren't shady themselves then it just isn't a good fit.
