accidents happen.

waiting 6 days after wondering if he was critically injured is a terrible delay the parents will have to live with...hopefully the child will recover quickly and without adverse effect

I agree that 6 days is a long time. It could be that the story has it wrong. We don't know all the facts. People are too quick to want to slam a parent for poor parenting.

It could be that since they are new parents, they did not pick up on symptoms. It would not be the first time a too-busy set of parents overlooked the health problem of a kid until it became serious.
