The entire death of the colonies was wrapped up in THIRTY minutes versus 3 hours for the new series.

The screen time doesn't matter, it's the impact. When I was a kid, the original BSG opening was very effective. As an adult, I started fast-forwarding through the new BSG miniseries. The yammering of that scary-looking Cyclon chick was booooring and the whole show is pretty pretentious.

I know that the Cyclon chick is being pushed as a hottie, but I think people are just following the trend. She looks like Gary Busey's son in drag. I don't care for the starved look and she has scary teeth. Plus, the idea is a direct ripoff of Farscape, which used the idea much better, IMHO.

I heard about the new BSG and it sounded like it was right up my alley, but it's boring, that's all there is to it. The episodes I watched were too much part of the ongoing story to be of individual interest (though the one or two eps of 24 I've seen were excellent on their own), and the whole show has this miserable, mopey tone about it I just couldn't get into.

That's the problem. There was no impact. Watching it as a kid it was neat because it was science fiction, but looking at it as an adult, it was terrible and that does not count any of the special effects (which were great at the time).

If you'll notice, there are few here who request photos of the blonde. Grace Park pictures, however, are practically mandatory.
