If you watch Kiefer Sutherland and "24," you learn to handle 60 minutes of tension, heartbreak and deception each week. And that's just between the characters of the president and the first lady.
But although fans love it, even the most ardent learn to overlook a lot regarding plot devices and characters.
Example: Jack Bauer, toughest guy on the planet and lead terrorist hunter, who can withstand torture, gunshots, drugs and severe mental anguish, found a pretty cool job for his annoying daughter, Kim.
After her stint as a runaway and a troubled teen in season one, she became an agent at the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU).
Kim, whose previous claim to heroic fame was escaping a wildcat while lost in the mountains of southern California, was now among the elite specialists who would save the lives of everyday Americans should the very worst take place. God help us.

"So what of this "24" show? Liberal crap? Or is it worth checking out?"
Definately NOT liberal crap. You might not like the current story line, as the feckless president is obviously a dead ringer for Richard Nixon. Rent the first season on DVD. Watch one episode and you will be HOOKED! Hubby and I watched three in a row the other night (we'd been on vacation and recording them), had there been six, seven, eight recorded I think we would have stayed up all night and watched them all. I've heard of people who watch the whole season, all 24 hours, straight through.
I sincerly think it is the most edge of your seat exciting TV show ever made. Sure, there are lots of silly parts, but taken as pure entertainment it is great.
Yeah...
I think Nina Myers is a hottie too.
I guess I am a masochist who is attracted to black widow spiders...
I learned that the more important a job you have the more you speak in clipped sentences. In the future, everyone pretending to have an important job will speak as if they're ordering burgers at a drive thru window.
FLOTUS
and WHISPER!
Jack Bauer's most repeated line: "There's no time!" (with minot variations.)
Jack Bauer's most repeated line: "There's no time!" (with minor variations.)
I read that Nina didn't know ahead of time that she was a mole.
I predict it'll become the new way to pick up chicks in ginmills --
Me. You. My place. Barry White. oh-two hundred.
No. Way. Hate Barry.
MST3K is the best show over. Sopranos pretty close, too. I've been watching both shows regularly the past month. If you like Cops, you *might* like Reno 911, but that show isn't for everyone.
I've just now got into 24, most TV shows I find out about 1-4 years later (the new BSG, Deadwood, Lost), and I have to catch up via Netflix. The directing style is impressive and Kiefer is excellence, but even only 16 hours into the first season, the incessant crises--24 of them a season, it appears--tend to dilute the tension and create an "oh brother" response. I've been spoiled by what happens in most of the seasons, who dies and who is a traitor, and with that knowledge the twists and turns and betrayals don't seem to fit. The show lacks breathers, but then again, I'm watching them back to back on DVDs, whereas weekly viewers have a seven day pause to handle the twists and turns.
24?
He didn't have them in the naked torture scene from Season Two (or was it Three?).
The tattoo on his left forearm was part of the plot from Season 3. Between the second and third seasons (a 3 year gap) Jack went undercover and infiltrated a Mexican drug cartel. All the members of the cartel had that same tattoo--a "brotherhood" thing.
I don't know if that particular tattoo is real or if it's a fake and Keifer is staying in character for the photo.
Not to mention that if you take a drink when the word protocol is said, you'll be passed out by show's end!
That's okay. Barry played at 78 rpms. No time.
Don't give away the moles, sigh, you'll spoil it for those who have not seen the show and plan to.
extremely sorry...
That was right before he offered probably the most famous line in 24 history:
"I think I'm going to need a hacksaw"
Thanks for the help and the warning. It does sound like this show is better than some shows people get addicted to (notice the PC there...I didn't mention any particular show so I wouldn't offend).
Back to lurking. :)
Yes..but watch Season 4 first.
If you watch Season 1 first you may never watch another.
Kimbicile is absolutely enraging!
