Remember my man, Bucky Dent? The Yankees were 14 1/2 games out of first place in July, 1978. This was the tie-breaker game. Sox choked and the Yankees went on to win the World Series against the Dodgers on the strength of Bucky Dent and Brian Doyle.

Bill "Woopsy Daisy" Buckner chokes off a sure victory for the Sox against the NY Mets in the 1986 World Series.

And to think the Red Sox were celebrating just a game earlier as if they won the Series. Perez and the Big Red Machine put a choke hold on the Sox during the 1975 World Series.

To quote Garrett Morris' character on SNL, Chico Escuela, "Baseball been berry berry good for the Hankees. Baseball been not so good for the Red Sox."

I can go on but I don't think there's enough bandwidth. I'm willing to accept the 2004 defeat. I even rooted for the Red Sox in the Series.

No matter what, we do love baseball

The NY Yankees in the 21st century have ZERO World Series championships.
