yes, but your responsible deeply if it does something bad.
And you are mauled deeply if the person that owned it let it maul you.
Seems like a fair trade. One person gets their face ripped off and the owner gets to be, horror of horrors, responsible.
A better idea would be, if a pit bull does something bad the owner has to have their ear, nose and part of their cheek surgically removed.
