A man is so sick of his mother-in-law he is selling her on eBay.
Steve Owen, 42, published a photo of 50-year-old Caroline Allen under "Collectables And Weird Stuff" on the internet auction site - describing her as "used".
He has invited bids starting at just £1 reports The Sun.
He posted the ad on the site after Caroline quit her home of 27 years in America and bought a house round the corner from him and common-law wife Tracey, 35, in Alvaston, Derby.
Steve said: "I'm deadly serious. She comes to the house every day trying to change me and make me tidy.
"I just hope someone will take her off my hands. She's single and not bad looking."
Caroline hit back: "He's lazy and I won't stop nagging him until he changes - that's my job. But he could have made the starting bid £100. I look better in the flesh."
TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: ebay; motherinlaw
I wonder how many others have been tempted to do the same.
Regards, Ivan

HAAA! Hey, Caroline. You ever wonder WHY you're SINGLE, and your Daughter's NOT??
Perhaps you ought to be thinking about your Daughter's happiness instead of yours for a change.

Hmmmmmmm.
Let's see ... he is 42, she is "only" 50 ... that bespeaks a certain tension in the relationship ...
There is no "legal" relationship between these two people if the "s-i-l" is in a commonlaw "marriage" with the woman's daughter. Does he have the "right" to "sell" the putative m-i-l?
Too many unknowns to be able to solve this equation. Chalk the whole thing up to a publicity stunt / attempt to make a few pounds / a joke.

Drat, I've searched ebay and can't find her :-(
At 50 and 'not bad looking', well.... in any case, that is why light switches were invented. ... :-)

HAAA! Hey, Randall ... the Daughter is SINGLE TOO ... it is just a "commonlaw" marriage [not a legal marriage at all] ... they are just shacked up, to use an ol' fashioned term. I don't know what the legal standing of a commonlaw marriage is in England ... but it is not marriage in the traditional sense of the word ... and I would consider the daughter SINGLE.

I do not bet.
Even "just a commonlaw marriage" would have certain requirements to satisfy that term.
Just shacking up does not necessarily qualify.
Are you reacting as someone who once got "burned" by that concept?

Aha, I think we see the problem right here ... this is not Caroline's job, that is her daughter's job. Caroline should be nagging her and not Stephen. Just my two lil Lincolns. :)

Just a moment... he's 42 and she's 50 - are you sure she's his mother-in-law?

"He's lazy and I won't stop nagging him until he changes - that's my job. But he could have made the starting bid £100. I look better in the flesh."At least she has a sense of humor. This is one of those cases where the daughter needs to put her foot down.
