You know, if this is in fact a frameup, in some ways it may be better for Duke and Durham if this actually goes to trial.
If the DNA comes back negative and the DA simply drops the case, saying there is insufficient evidence to bring charges, the black community in Durham is going to claim "Duke got away with rape" and that the students were not charged because they were white.
On the other hand, at least if there is a trial, all of the evidence demonstrating a frame-up will be presented and covered extensively by the media and digested by the public. While there will always be a few race baiters claiming otherwise, for those people in the black community paying attention with a reasonably open mind, they would at least understand what really happened.

All I know is that if this was a white woman screaming rape against black players and only the black players DNA was collected, we'd have Jesse the Rev Jackson running protest marches....
I don't know what the truth of this case is, but the MSM sure is one sided......

a civil case was also settled, terms unreleased......
sometimes the DA has to play to the public....its a game.....
but the media has been PROVACATEURS in this case...just as in the Bryant case.....eager to engage in hearsay, half truths, mud-slinging and innuendo .....and their jobs are secure so they could care less what happens when this is all over....
on a side note....it couldn't have happened at a more deserving leftist, limosine liberal university than Duke......high fallutin' better than thou types deserve they're come upperance once in a while....

As you can see, that is just not true; I swear, I've never seen the amount of embellishing that has been done with this case.
Nobody is saying anything close to that; what people are thinking and saying is that this is all one-sided and that this players are being mercilessly attacked for what might turn out to be a bunch of lies.
But - we don't know yet. So, I prefer not to second guess.
That's just me.

We've had all kinds of stuff like that in the last week; students attacked, ordered out of fast food places, threats of driveby shootings, fires in the dorms.
It's just awful.
It's horrible .. what's next? Riots .... with flags? Prayers for peace.

What the heck is going on there in the Triangle? First the Muslim nut with the SUV at Chapel Hill, now this.
There are people here who are stirring a race war, that's what is going on here.
Those fires in the LA Riots? Pull out a map of Los Angeles and grab some markers. It was strategic. It wasn't just an "outpouring" of outrage. It was obviously planned.
Since I've arrived in NC and just been paying attention, I've seen similar patterns evolving. In businesses, in various incidences (those cross burnings in Durham, in fact, just about everything "bad news" going down in Durham). I've seen the pandering by civil activists and politicians alike to thug behavior in Durham. I've seen the demands for "MORE MONEY" to solve the problems in Durham. I've paid attention to the issues concerning "who" should get reduced financing and better admittance to colleges. I've seen the plethora of "diversity" training programs continuing and growing.
And not just the social stuff; but the economic stuff. Who is getting "grants" and for what special groups. How many times is there going to be another rant out of Charlotte about how "whites" have it better?
And I've seen this case -- The Exotic Stripper and the La Crosse Team -- and watched a "Rodney King" CNN stunt pulled by the media, the DA's office, now the NAACP enters the scene.
Oh yeah. I've seen the pattern, more than a few times. I've seen similar stuff in re "Latino" activism in the schools -- similar (not as large) as the one in Southern California.
Someone. Some group. Someone who wants power and money and control is doing some heavy lifting behind the scenes to turn this event into a major "KING / OJ" thing here in NC. And they don't give a rats ass what kids or what innocents get hurt by it.
As long as the KingFish Reap the payola. It's the usual "coalition" of the socialists: black, white, latino, gay, feminists, illegals, and their allies in the Media and in the Governor's house, I can only surmise, given the ludicrous utterances of the DA.
Even visiting LaCrosse members from OUT OF STATE WHO WERE NOT AT THE PARTY -- were demanded to provide their "samples".
La Crosse has its roots in Europe.
Now maybe, yes, this situation is just another in a long string of very understandable mishaps -- drunkeness, kids out of control.
But it is grownups who are using kids to turn this into a political football.
So-called Grown-ups. Grown-ups who demand to be in "charge". And think they've earned some kind of elitist right to be. And just because they live in town "xx" or have skin color "yy" or have certain "bb" genitalia. Just because they can spin and lie and play emotional baggage and tyranny games using the press as mouthpieces to do so.
Yes. Someone wants a race/sex war. Pretty easy to see who is playing to that end.
It's blackmail and extortion in a soft abuse category. And using this case.
It's how it went down in CA. Each time.
Don't worry the Chief O Police is going to tell us which white boys did it on 4/10. Maybe the chief will tell us where Natalie Holloway is at while he is at it.

As is often the case, (Jan 8, 2006) the Charlotte Observer carried an interesting article that left out significant facts. Still, I have to give Jack Betts some credit for even admitting the fact that his employer, the Charlotte Observer, along with the Raleigh News and Observer and the Wilmington paper, provided much of the impetus for the racist campaign that led to the "Wilmington Riot" and brought the Democratic Party to power at the end of the 1800's, a power they have held ever since.
Since the Democratic Party has controlled North Carolina's public schools for over a century, how have they treated their black supporters? Since there are many neighborhoods in which black children are more likely to go to prison than college, I'd say there is a lot of room for improvement.
When I was elected in 1994, phonics had been removed from North Carolina's public school curriculum, despite the extensive research showing that explicit phonics instruction is essential for disadvantaged children. While those responsible deny this ever happened, the legislature would not have passed a law mandating phonics instruction if the "experts" in the executive branch had not stealthily removed phonics from the curriculum. The press permitted, and even aided, the cover-up of the phonics scandal, leaving the enemies of literacy in charge of our reading curriculum.
Has anything really changed in North Carolina politics in the last hundred years? In my opinion, the major papers are still covering-up the misdeeds of their Democratic friends.
