I just can't deal with paying $2000 for something that I can get for $600. I do music editing and recording on a compaq without any hassles. 90% of my pc use is internet browsing and email. the other 10% is music related. i've had no troubles, and with the 1200 or so I saved, I can by a sweet 52 Fender Tele.

$2000?

Latest intel Mac mini: $599 (bring your own keyboard, mouse, and monitor, but it does have wireless networking, gigabit ethernet, bluetooth and P1394 (aka Firewire, aka iLink) built in.)

Latest iMac, 17 inch: $1299. Comes with a Core Duo processor, screen, keyboard, multi-button mouse, videocamera, etc. For $1699 you get a 20 inch version.

Discounts available on Macs, if you look at Amazon, at the very least.

Do yourself a big favor...walk into a CompUSA or Apple store and just take a iMac G5 with Tiger X for a test drive (with Garage Band). Then come back and convince us we should driving Yugos....excuse me...Dells.

By the way your prices are about $700 too high for the iMac plus most of the software you'll ever really need is already included.
