Mayor Gavin Newsom said Tuesday that his administration's move to seek a judicial opinion on whether the 49ers and the city can proceed with a football stadium project different from the one presented to and passed by voters in 1997 is not an attempt to dodge the electorate.

Friggin' corporate welfare. Why didn't the NFL look ahead and created some type of account for teams who needed new stadiums back in the 70s or 80s?
