Mother cats can be clearly seen to actually *care* (emotionally) for their kittens, and will fight to the death to protect them, and will risk death to save them - anybody remember "Scarlet" the fire-cat?
Why this mom-cat would bring her dead kittens to your door... hard to tell. Possibly she thinks that you might be able to bring them back.
Wow. Just realized what a heartbreaking thought *that* is.

Wow. Just realized what a heartbreaking thought *that* is.I told my husband, look honey, she wants us to save her baby. It broke my heart. She sat far away and just watched while my hubby was working with it.

Wow. Just realized what a heartbreaking thought *that* is. It is sad. Mother kitties tend to grieve when they lose a litter of kittens. We had one last summer on our compound who gave birth to three kittens and they all died within 24 hours.
That poor mother cat went around crying piteously for a couple of days. It broke my heart.

Possibly she thinks that you might be able to bring them back. Used to have a cat that kept bringing dead rats to the door. Don't think he was looking for rodent ressurection.
