In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
esculent \ESS-kyuh-lunt\ adjective
: edible
Example sentence:
Sonia is a chef at The Wild Asparagus, a top-notch restaurant whose claim to fame is that every dish on the menu features an esculent native plant.
Etymology:
One appealing thing about "esculent" is that this word, which comes from the Latin for food ("esca"), has been around for 375 years. If we give you just one more tidbit of etymologythat "esca" is from Latin "edere," which means "to eat"can you pick which of the following words is NOT related to "esculent"?
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Father Denis Donahue, pastor of St. Rita Parish in Alexandria, said his parish was also not going to take advantage of the new allowance. Were going to stick with what weve got, he said. The boys and girls are different. The girls tend to be more developed and more advanced, and because of that they participate more, and they tend to dominate. The boys are not as advanced. They tend to drop out, and I dont want that. Then, when the youths get older they focus on each other, Father Donahue said. Its already a challenge in the classrooms and he doesnt want to have that in the sanctuary. He also cited the incarnational principle, or how Christ was made flesh. Priests symbolize Christ and boys symbolize priests, Father Donahue said. A boy serving is like a symbol of the priest and thats lost when you introduce girls. He added that the parishioners with whom he has spoken have been very positive about the decision that he has made.
i am not going to quibble with you over what your interpretation of tradition is. i am assuming that the erudite priests that i know and respect had substantial rationale for their stance on this that went beyond latin=tradition. 11 pages worth.
like those who confuse a messy cubicle with a busy person; length don't make an arguement. And this isn't my interpertation of tradition - I was trying to figure out yours.
I actually will not read it. I don't understand why you aren't allowed to have an opinion or interpertation. If you've been sheparded well, you should understand where you are.
of course i have an opinion. and i have NO problem understanding where i am. just because YOU don't understand where i am doesn't bother me in the least. i could be like the leftwing catholic in name only feminists that are applauding this development, but that is NOT my opinion and NOT where i am.
i fully admit to not being capable of explaining the traditional perspective, which is why i provided a link to a reasoned presentation of it, if you truly wanted to understand that point of view. i cannot combat the sophistry of arguments like "well gee, if you were REALLY traditional, you would have Mass said in caves in Aramaic." i fully admit my inadequacy.
It's common in labs and she is a chow chow/lab mix.
Silly girl was jumping on and off the bed again.
Are they? I didn't know that. Just that the trio is now a duo.
Gonna be a nightmare. I will go home today at lunch to check on her and then next week she is going to be on her own. She gets around pretty good for a gimp, and she's been going in and out her doggy door.
Thank goodness I have Vegas in April or I would be a basket case.
Yes they are from Georgia but my Marine just said one of the girls was actually born here in Sugar Land....... I was not aware of that.
