LOL, how so? Firefox isn't American, nor do I see any reference to anything American in that article. Firefox is the result of the culmination of the worldwide open source "community" right, as fully endorsed by the United Nations. That's supposed to be it's benefit, at least that's what I keep hearing, the fact that it's NOT American.
Where is the server located? Hint--the articles of incorporation for the Mozilla Foundation (M.F. Technologies) are in California, with the offices located in Mountain View, CA.
Don't give me any of that "developers are scattered over the world" crap--so are Microsoft's. They have more Indian programmers than Mozilla has employees, yet they are still considered an American Corp.
Firefox is just as American as Microsoft.
Firefox was begun by an American company using American programmers. It was then spun it off into an open source project, but retained the full-time programmers to work on it, who were of course the majority contributors. It was later spun off into its own American non-profit organization, and while more coding comes in from outside there's still a core of American programmers to run it.
I'd say Firefox is more American a lot of proprietary software due to the popularity of shipping programming off to India.
