So just as I said their stated mission is to take the property of "a prominent North American Vendor" and instead "provide it for free to anyone who wishes to use it". Pretty much as liberal as you can get, if you want to use their mission as their judge of character, not that we needed to after this fiasco.

Then again, it's an assumed point that CentOS is going to take care of its users.

But when you get a support queue that's so completely out of line, people are going to post such exchanges all over the Net. The guy acted like a four year old, and the CentOS engineers that tried to work with him did better in dealing with this hack far better than most of us here could. Pure and simple.

Clearly, Microsoft doesn't. So, are you really in a position to criticize CentOS for allegedly committing the same sin that made Microsoft infamous?

You know not of which you speak. Therefore, Silence is Golden. Be rich.

Ha Ha, here's a site with the video of Rome getting punked on his own show by Chrissy Everett!

http://www.moderntv.com/modtvweb/qtclips/violence.htm#viewmov2

LMAO, you probably were wearing braces back then, don't even realize how foolish you look sucking up to that idiot. I see where the MikeInOhio comes from too, that's how he addresses the nerds he calls "clones" on his show right? God you're pathetic.

LMAO, not unless you call that insulting them, and then publicizing it across the globe.

Respectable vendors don't.

Clearly, Microsoft doesn't.

Doesn't what? Take care of their users? Then why haven't hardly any of us left? LOL you're trying to give stuff away and we still don't want it.

Yeah, if you like seeing wannabee crybabies like Rome getting punked on their own show, it was great! He was on his knees before Everett even got close. What a little puss, no wonder you like him so much.

Gee the Chris Evert incident REALLY hurt Jim Rome too!!

not only did he get his name out there, but his radio show grew to nearly 3 million listeners over the next 5 years.

Microsoft wishes it could have something happen that looks bad, but ends up ENHANCING the product. It won't ever happen.

It's SO great that Jim Rome is back on ESPN with Jim Rome is Burning.

It's getting great ratings and it has the best takes from the entire radio show PLUS what he called a correspondents segment, where he has an athlete or coach show the viewers what a day is like.

It's great.

Everyone should watch it if they get a chance.

If only Micro$$$$$$oft could figure out a way to put it's product out there, but they won't.

The only people insulted here are you and Tuttle. CentOS was beyond reasonable in dealing with the Tuttle Tussle.

So, by your own admission, Microsoft isn't a respectable vendor, as it's well known that they don't take care of their customers.

The biggest explanation why people are still using Windows is because they really either don't know or can't use an alternative. And a lot of people fall into the former.

This is what we strive for as the open-source community. Provide the consumer with more options. This is also something you consistently fail to show any modicum of understanding.

According to Stallman it's all about "software taxes" and the U.N., it should be no wonder to you why most Americans aren't interested. And then add behavior like this on top. Certainly something to be avoided, by most of the respectable class.

For those that haven't seen the show, he has generally one or two atheletes as guests, maybe a General Manager or Owner. Sometimes he lands a big interview with a commish of a league (The NBA's David Stern was the most recent) or some other celebrity.

Like I said, it's a great show to watch.

Didn't I tell you the difference between FSF and OSS. For the umpteenth time, FSF does NOT equal OSS.

FSF is OSS, but OSS is NOT FSF. Hence, they're NOT equal.

Two separate entities, the distinction that Stallman and FSF are the fundamentalist looneys.

Much of the OSS doesn't associate with Stallman--I don't know of any OSS advocates here that do.

Again, you don't know what you're talking about.

Ask any Joe Sixpack computer user if he knows about Mac OS X or Linux. Chances are that if you say computer, he thinks Windows. Not necessarily because he chooses Windows, but that's because that's what's on 85+% of all computers.

Didn't I tell you

Why would I listen to the ramblings of some college kid when I can read the speaches of your leaders themselves? Here's Bruce Perens addressing the United Nations recently, right after Richard Stallman.

"I am honored to follow Doctor Richard Stallman, the giant upon whose shoulders Open Source stands. When I say Open Source, I mean the same thing that Richard means when he says Free Software."

Which of course is correct, as everyone knows ~75% of all "open source" software uses Stallman's license. So while Stallman is a fundamentalist looney, he officially represents your movement at the highest possible levels. And there's nothing you'll ever be able to do about it.

It's not just me who's giving you this lecture. Other posters have alluded and have pretty much reiterated what I've been saying.

You're an outsider who when it comes to OSS, doesn't know s*** from shinola. That is, except that OSS currently is a nasty thorn in MS's side--and if it develops, could be a deep (if not lethal) wound to the MS monopoly.

Other posters are right. You have to be a paid shill for Microsoft with nothing more to say.

Again, why would I listen to you boys dance up and down when I can read the speeches of your leaders given in front of the United Nations. Especially when you try to deny what the leaders of your movement actually have to say. What you have to say about the matter is completely inconsequential. Obviously just the dreams of the confused, misguided, and/or both.

Good Grief. Willful ignorance.

Repeat after me: FSF does NOT equal OSS. FSF does NOT equal OSS. (continue for five or ten minutes).

Stallman leads FSF. He is viewed as nutty by much of the OSS community--including most every OSS advocate here. His radical view does NOT mesh with the OSS philosophy that open and closed-source can and must exist alongside each other for technology to advance.

I use them, currently, but I don't love or hate them

You constantly defend them in all cases.

. I installed the latest on one of my systems at home the other day, and 4 new pieces of spyware showed up on my next daily scan, first time that had happened in months.

Some spyware products falsely catch Opera as spyware. This is popularly known and can be found with a quick search. Instead of trying to find that out, you make the suggestion that Opera is very vulnerable to spyware.

You established your opinion is running software from Russian hackers is desirable,

It's apparently the US government's position. How can it be undesirable when it is so well know, tested and trusted, and it is open source? You'd know that if you knew anything about 'nix network security, and would realize your comment was stupid trolling.

And you still haven't figured out what it is, have you?
