NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- Country radio may be ready to make nice with the Dixie Chicks.
The grudge dates back to 2003 when many country stations stopped playing the popular trio after lead singer Natalie Maines criticized President Bush.
But the Chicks' new single, "Not Ready to Make Nice," is now in rotation in several major markets, pushing it to No. 36 on Billboard's country singles chart after its first full week of airplay. Other stations, however, have been slower to embrace it.
"I think a lot of people are in a wait-and-see mode," said Wade Jessen, director of Billboard's country charts. "The next couple of weeks are really going to tell the tale."

Two more reasons why I no longer listen to any music on FM radio. I like Country music, which categorically excludes Pop, Top 40, Rascal Flatts, Lonestar or the 18 minutes of commercials an hour in between. The same goes for Blues or Classic Rock.Streaming audio or satellite channels are far better alternatives - not to mention my CD collection.
Larry the Cable Guy's line about Natalie still apppears to be on target: "If it wasn't for those two sisters, Natalie would just be another clerk at a Lane Bryant store in Nashville."
Let us not forget all the lies they perputuated about that shirt.
NOT READY TO BUY~
SUCK IT UP DIXIE BITCHES YOUR VICTIM CARD HAS BEEN REVOKED FOR BEING PLAYED OUT!
One of the radio guys who was quoted in the article is being attacked on this thread. He alos explains:

For those still whining that "boycotts" are infringing on the chicks rights. I give you this:

Dixie Chicks: Boycott Sinclair
In what they call a "Sinclair Media Alert, the country group The Dixie Chicks have called for a boycott of Sinclair Broadcasting for using "their monopoly rights to the public airwaves ... to sway the election in favor of a candidate that staunchly allows media companies to get even bigger.
The Chicks characterize radio giant Clear Channel as using "its power to promote a pro-Republican, pro-war agenda, and then proceed to compare Sinclair with Clear Channel. "Now we have a giant television company that is making Clear Channel's antics look like a day at the beach, the Chicks' Website declares.
The Chicks also provide some legal analysis for their fans, maintaining that Sinclairs plans to air "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal on its 62 stations constitutes a "clear violation of the spirit of the law.
The Chicks punctuate their alert saying, "during the past week there has been a massive backlash, and Sinclair is on the defensive. They are on the ropes and we need you to help us keep them there.
as you can clearly see, they chicks themselves believe in "boycotts".
I don't know why radio stations would be uneasy about playing the Ditzy Chits. I mean, I don't swear at the radio or anything. I just change to another station for as long as I think the song will be playing. Car bombs are used by the people that the Ditzy Chits root for, not folks like me. And I have called my local radio station to *assure* them that my only reaction to playing the Ditzy Chits *will* be the peaceful act of changing to another station.
I emailed mine as well. The chicks are sensationalizing "threats" that were never proven by anyone. In fact when asked about threats and vandalism, the Sherriff (San Antionio) went on record to say that NO threats had ever been reported and the only "vandalism" ever reported was one of their front gates getting toilet papered. He did not speculate as to whether or not the toilet paper was life threatening! LOL!
"He did not speculate as to whether or not the toilet paper was life threatening!"
Well, if it was aimed at Natalie Maines, it might be. After all what is toilet paper used for? What is Natalie? QED A direct threat to her.
I find the combined approach works better for me. ;-)
I dont know if they make a roll big enough!
It reminds me of ALGORE's complaints about the FR outside of his ex-home in Washington. They overblown the problems to become a victim.
That is classic chicks for you. Everything that happens to them is sensationalized. Reminds you of those kids in grade school who always had the best the biggest and the brightest of everything. Except with the chick its through the looking glass into the bizzaro fringe of society world.
Right now chick fans are desperatelty trying to convince anyone who will listen that having the chicks on the bottom of the charts (currently sitting at #45 on the country airplay charts) is a falied boycott on our part, depsite the fact that they used to be able to reach #1.
Like I said, eveything is backasswards in their world and reason no longer enters the equation with them.
For anyone who is curious about the validity of the claims the chicks are making regarding the backlash etc... a study was indeed done, however buried..
You can find it here...
http://www.princeton.edu/~artspol/workpap26.html
Notice the conclusions of the study....heaviest reaction around military bases and reaction across the board in both A/C and country.
The study was done to see if there was indeed truth to the charges that corporate decisions were the cause of the loss of airplay for the Chicks....and the conclusion was no, actually corporate America chose profit over principle....and that radio responded to one of the largest recent unorganized grassroots movements in this country. The Chicks crossed over into pop early on and that's really the main reason their sales were so high. Country just isn't that big a genre -- it doesn't generate enough sales for numbers that big.
Along the way --these past few years since the boycott began --I'd read the VH-1 board for the Chicks from time to time. Those folks who'd been their a/c fans were fighting the exact same fights about the Chicks that the country fans were. And very few fans supporting them in VH-1 too.
It was never a "Country" boycott. It was an AMERICAN one. Always has been!
Its over for them!
Thanks. I look forward to reading it. A/C - is that American contemporary? Alternate crap? :-) Enquiring minds wanna know!
Adult Contempory.
Here is the adult contemporary airplay chart, its updated twice a day.

This chart is the "jump" chart. It shows artists that are having signifigant increases of spins. Once again the chicks arnt even on it, and the lowest increase is 17.

Essentially they are tanking.
This chart shows were the majority of spins are coming from. As you can clearly see, they are mostly coming from pay for play satelite radio, and even there they are losing spins. Their label, Sony, has a documented history of paying for spins for their artists.

Very interesting stuff. Thank you.
No problem. I got tired of the perpetual lies coming from the chicks, their managment, and the liberal media, so I started doing some fact checking and digging.
Things are nothing like they would have you believe. They will be on a few shows coming up in May and I guarantee you, the lies will continue.
Hey coop, a freind just sent me this and I wanted to share. I thought you would get a good laugh about it!
Its from the New York Press.
"While the Dixie Chicks keep whining about their horrific period of persecutionthe one that culminated with an Entertainment Weekly coverweve got a stellar week of real artists whove actually offended their fans. The Pretenders have easily sold out Irving Plaza while promoting the surprisingly impressive Pirate Radio box set. It doesnt even matter that Chrissie Hynde has cheered for the deaths of U.S. soldiers. At least shes never played the martyr all Dixie Chick-stylee."
