I've always wondered about the ear monitor bit. Do they 'need' the ear monitor? Did Diana rely on it too much? I mean, if she hadn't relied upon it so much, could she have survived its malfunction?

As a musician, I can tell you that the "in ear" monitor is almost always used in large venues.
Most of the time, they are great tools. One of the problems with them is that you MUST used them because you can't hear yourself over the band without them.
In the "old days" (or in smaller venues), monitor speakers are used but if you move around a lot you find "dead spots."
In Ear monitors don't have that problem.
Diana's monitor cut out when that almost never happens. The whole thing smells like sabotage to me.
