Definately. Audio only is less distorted ~ less prejudicial for me.
I really like the beginning of Kellie's 'Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered',
but only the very end of Taylor's 'You Send Me."
And absolutely every note of Chris' 'What a Wonderful World" and Elliott's 'It Had to be You'.
I don't care much who wins, or who goes home when.
They are each adorable in their own way, and I hope to see them on tour.
The one time I caught part of NS everything seemed dark and dismal.
Then get a new host. :) Dolly Parton would be great, but I suppose she is pretty busy.
Agreed.
And no way Pickles shouldn't be.
I guess DialIdol is at least as reliable as political polls the media is always blathering about.
Geeze, can you imagine the pouting and crap we'll have to endure if Pickles is in the bottom 3.
Yeah. We should place bets on how many times she says, "Ahm sah-wee."
Double agreed!!!
Here is one other way to gauge the popularity of a contestant and how advertisers perceive their
popularity based on their ANTICIPATION on how many viewers will be watching...
From what I remember spending time with media buyers and accounts people, they can ask (demand - depending on the advertising dollars) that their ads be placed in
certain or particular segments of a show.
Like for instance, an NBA finals - quite a number of advertisers can ask for a spot placement lets say - at half time
or perhaps the last 2-minute call/marker on the 4th. Network people then can say.
Ive seen media buyers try to elbow their way in during primo spot or segment of a show.
With American idol, its easier to segmentize ad placements because of the contestants.
If lets say, target market for a particular brand is geared towards a drinking market, then they will put their ad money on Chris segment.
With a show like AI due to its current strength in ratings, advertsiers can very well just pay the money to get their products in the show.
One undeniable thing though last night was Taylors segment had a commercial or two more than the average. If you don't believe me, you can try doing the count next week (assuming Taylor survives).
I counted the ads after Ryan announces ... Next up, we have X ( where X represents one of the 7 contestants) and there seems to be MORE ads BEFORE Taylor performed ( just after Ryan announced he was coming up next ).
If my theory holds true, this is another gauge on who is more likely to go deep into the finals.
If that's the case, then Taylor would be the only remaining contestant not to have placed in the bottom three at any time during the competition.
Pickles has not been in the bottom three yet, either, at least not that I remember. Chris was in the bottom three once, if I recall correctly. I just don't think he belongs there based on last night's performances, but I think Pickles does.
LOL The cat is adorable! :)
Grin...watch those eyes going around often enough and you'll start to talk like Pickle.
Absolutely! Kenny was okay, but I imagine that his obvious plastic surgery and hair plugs were distracting to the singers :)
"What's everybody starin' at?"
McPhee was good and deserved *some* praise, but Simon's praise was over the top. If he had a agenda doing that, it was probably to cement McPhee in the Top 5.
That was just a rumor. All the singers sang the same songs that they practiced in the pre-recorded segments with Rod Stewart.
Yahoo Caption: This undated photo released by Universal Studios shows actors Hugh Grant, left and Mandy Moore in a scene from 'American Dreamz.' The film, which opens Friday, April 21, 2006, is about an 'American Idol'-type TV show hosted by a cynical Grant, which has a pudgy, rural nobody in the form of Moore, relentlessly pursuing stardom.
(Do they really think Mandy Moore is pudgy?!)
Oh no--you're gonna make her pout again :)
