Kellie is not really a singer, just a "personality". She is nowhere in the league of the Top 5 in this group

Exactly. You nailed it.

and it was an unintended blessing that America saw that once and for all tonight. It won't get her off tonight, as she Heed and Hawed her way out of it, but it will not be forgotten.

LOL! The Gherkin is a master of the "fake pout", making her bottom lip touch her chin. "I'm saw-wee!" I hate that.

Katherine's exquisite. Why was she dressed like an executive?

I don't know, but it's becoming a regular thing. Every week we all ask, "Why was she dressed like _________ ?"

Morning, Wolfstar. Just a guess, but I think you liked last night's show :) I agree. It was one of the best shows Idol has ever had. Songs like that, performed well, reveal how shallow and empty most pop tunes are today.

Taylor: Easily the best performance of the night by far.

Yes indeed. When I said to someone else that Pickler hasn't yet had a standout performance, this is what I was talking about. That was a standout performance!

(Pickler) everyone else -- yes, including Ace -- is more talented than she is.

Oh now you've done it--she's pouting again!

She also has a very limited range and not much power to her vocals. She's been able to disguise her weaknesses by choosing fun, mostly novelty songs that don't require serious vocal chops to pull off.

True. And that reminds me ... As nutty and incoherent as Paula is, she sometimes blurts out something very clear and honest.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us "I can't wait for your acting career to take off!"

OUCH! That's like saying, "You can't possibly make it as a singer."

Taylor changed up on his song, making a simple song much more complex. In contrast to Katharine's changes, Taylor brought a whole new sense of drive and urgency and feeling to his song: Girl, I REALLY, REALLY want to marry you and take you home, like right now, honey. Versus Katharine's hear me do a run because I can. Hear me change the melody because I can. Aren't I great.

I copied that entire paragraph because you said it all perfectly. Taylor truly felt his song, but McPhee's performance was more academic.

He would have looked nice in his suit, at least ... if he hadn't had his hair in a freakin' OLIVE OYL BUN! Ye gods! (Okay, he finally demonstrated that it was a tiny little 'tail. But it looked like a bun. I kept looking for the hairnet to go with it.)

LOL!

No way. Kellie may not have raw vocal talent, but she does Country and attitude-pop with big gusto. In contrast, Ace is pathetic. He has no range and his lousy falsetto is driving me nuts. If his teeth were as gross as Elliot's he would have been gone 5 weeks ago. Also I think Paris is very overrated.

2. Paris Bennett (-1)

Is this a joke? Paris is SO overrated. Cover your eyes and see what a limited range she has compared to Katherine. Paris has no chance to be the next Idol, nor should she.

Elliot would be in the top 3 were it not for his gross teeth. He sort of whitened them after 8 weeks, but they are still crooked, sharp and just weird. My wife and sister can't focus on anything else when they watch him.

You know, if the Gerkhin wins this thing, she could be what makes AI jump the shark.

Why? Pickler does Country and some other styles very well. I think she would sell a ton of albums, and would have a popular acting run to boot. Meanwhile, where is Fantasia? Nowhere.

That's really sad.

Perfection is the enemy of good.

The boy can sing, isn't that what this is about.

I hope he doesn't go home yet. He, Taylor and Chris are my top 3. :) I would love to see those 3 in the finals. With Paris or Katharine in the 4 spot.

LMAO!! It did look like Olive Oyl's hair!!! Can you buy him a hamburger? He'll gladly pay you for it on Tuesday.

I just read last night comments on this thread and am surprised that no one else noticed that the Pickler was way ahead of the music. I think she botched a lyric and lost her place. The music was playing notes ahead of what she was singing. I was actually embarrassed for her.

Good voice, but no performance personality.

I totally agree. She sounded great and I actually liked her performance if I didn't look at the tv.

there are 2 guys on this show who I can't even figure out why they are not signed and selling 8 gabillion records each already.

The guys on Nashville Star this year are awesome. There's 3 of them that will get major record deals out of this, if you ask me.

The one with the amazing vocals is Casey Rivers. My wife went to school with his dad (kind of, he's 5 years older than her). They sang "original songs" last week, and Chris Youngs would be at the top of the charts if it was released. Incredible song, and great voice.

Singing talent aside, the show just doesn't have the production values of Idol.

The talent is the best they've ever had, better than AI (IMHO). But, you're right, the production values is horrible, almost unwatchable.

I use the ol' DVR and watch mainly just the singing. Can't stand Wynonna.

LMAO!!! Marla Hooch! One of my very favorite movies.

"C'mon Marla!" "I'm singin' ta Nelson!"

One of the funniest movie lines ever is right before that scene. Gena Davis gets a ride to the bar by some kid.

Kid: "Whaddya say we get in the backseat and you make a man outta me?"

Dottie: "How about we get in the backseat and I slap you around for while?"

Kid: "Can't we do both?"

I missed Rod Stewart's comments to Taylor. What did he say?

What was interesting was they showed a teeny bit of Chris Young's song from last week and it was a part where he did a little falsetto (I am assuming it was at the end of the song) and it was not abrasive, not annoying. It actually seemed to fit into the song. It didn't seem randomly placed there like Ace's falsetto parts.

I really liked him and the first guy who sang Folsom Prison Blues.

He said something like to keep doing what he is doing. His dancing shows he's really "into" the song and feeling it. Then he told him not to listen to Simon, because it's a singing competition, not a dancing one. LOL

You know, I actually really liked Rod Stewart last night. I think I expected him to be sort of snooty or haughty, but he seemed sort of like a regular guy you would talk to at a pub. I thought he was much more likable then Kenny Rogers.
