EXACTLY!!! It was like he just gave up trying to make the vocal track at that point.
Folks,
Country week can be lively or schmaltzy depending on the song you pick.
Here's a great song that has long been forgotten that does not require dancing but will require skills at working up the crowd and audience interaction.
Anyone remember -- JIM CROCE's "BAD BAD LEROY BROWN" ?
Now, I'd like to hear the crowd clapping/stomping in time to this one plus the backup singers singing "BAD" half a sec behind the lead singer's "BAD". That would be a fun song that would REAAAALLLY Entertain. Something that we watch TV for in the first place.
NOW WHO DO YOU THINK I HAVE IN MIND AS THE ONE PERSON WHO CAN PULL THIS OFF ?
HINT: It ain't a woman...
Some Elvis for Taylor. The kids would eat it up, and the dinosaurs would start dialing like crazy.
Skynward for Chris. I don't think Chris is anywhere near Bo in talent, if he can sing Skynard, he'll get past that comparison.
Thank God I'm a Country Girl or Piney Wood Hills by Buffy Sainte-Marie for Kelly. She's got a future, and Buffy's character, pride, and passion would do her well.
Some Johnny Cash for Bucky. His only chance is if he's better than Chris at something he did.
Eliot should do some Buddy Holly, complete with that dancing. It's horrible, it's funny, and it makes him extremely enjoyable.
Mandisa should skip the gospel stuff. She's better off doing old bluesy stuff, and being sultry. Don't know what country song that might be.
Paris with her great dress up can do whatever she wants.
In what genre would "Georgia On My Mind" fall? Have you heard his version of that? Is he saving it for later?
BUT, I was thinking about this this morning in the shower and I thought of a better idea for Chris. "4th of July" by Shooter Jennings. I looooooooooooove that song. It's more of a southern rock song then a country song.
Good choice for Taylor, but does it count as country? I always thought of Jim Croce as more of a folk singer.
LOL! I think she and Mandisa are going to fight over "I Will Always Love You". But, Mandisa could jazz up Hank Williams, Sr.'s "I Saw The Light" and tear the joint up, IMO.
Bucky could do Big and Rich's, "Save a Horse, Ride A Cowboy".
And I was thinking either Leanne Rimes song that is out now, "Somethings Gotta Give" or Gretchen Wilson, "Homewrecker" for Kellie. Not a rip on Kellie, it's about beating up a girl whose hitting on her man.
Maybe if that creature was as well endowed as Paula, she wouldn't need to deface herself with pins and scars, and join some weird satanic athletic team. Brrrrr...
Oh, that's right. That was the week the three black "divas" made up the bottom three.
Yep, nobody since has been able to do it as good as Patsy did.
Grin...it's not my tree. I found the photo searching Google Images on the word scar.
Ahmm, afeared she gonna be aroun' longah.
After pondering this dilemma in my dreams (not), I've come to the conclusion...
...should sing some Glen Campbell. Maybe (cough) 'Rhinestone Cowboy.'
She been coasting throughout the entire competition. She's very pretty...and knows it. She has a nice voice...and knows it. She sings to herself...and doesn't know it, or if she does, she doesn't care. I think the rude awakening might be good for her.
There will be an enormous amount of pressure on Keiie and Bucky to knock it out of the park as this is their preferred genre. Hopefully Kellie picks another vapid song this week...:-)
I don't know who's voting for her, but they must be a pretty shallow lot. That's it! Her votes come from the Left. [chuckle]
In this day and age, when all things gay are celebrated in the entertainment world, I find it hard to believe Clay's sexual trysts (whatever they may be) are the reason for whatever's going on at RCA's website. More likely the date has been pushed back yet again. This dance over when Clay will release his next (non-Christmas) CD has been going on for over two years now.
That's the one Chris should do. ... he would be able to stay true to his style.
... AND court more chicky votes, like Simon sez.
