Inside Edition was just showing pictures of Ryan Seacrest and Teri Hatcher kissing. The are a couple now.

Most interesting. Teri is 10 years older than Ryan. She was born December 8, 1964. He was born December 24, 1974. (Stats from Internet Movie DB.)

Ok...I don't know a lot of country music but...

The people over on the Absent Element forum (Chris' Band) are suggesting for Country week that Chris sing one of the following...

-Don’t Ask Me How I Know - Bobby Pinson
-Shameless - Garth Brooks
-How Do You Like Me Now - Toby Keith
-Desperado - Clint Black/The Eagles
-Devil Went Down To Georgia - Charlie Daniels
-The Dance - Garth Brooks
-Tell Me I was Dreaming - Travis Tritt
-This Woman and This Man - Clay Walker
-Have You Forgotten - Darryl Worley
-Ain’t Going Down Till The Sun Comes Up - Garth Brooks
-The Thunder Rolls - Garth Brooks
-Best I Ever Had - Gary Allan (I agree with this one)
-Tonight I Want To Cry - Keith Urban
-The One - Gary Allan

That's it from me tonight!

I swear to God if the Gherkin wins this year, this will be my last season watching Idol. That girl is not remotely the best one in the field.

No no no! "Devil Went Down to Georgia" is absolutely NOT for Chris! Think about it ... most of that song is spoken, not sung, and the part that is sung has very little range. I love the song, but it is not a "singer's song," and that's what Chris needs next -- he really needs to prove he can actually sing, not just shout like this week.

I like the "Angry American" idea though, or something similar. I think a big part of Chris's demographic is grownup women, and I'll bet a lot of them are patriotic.

Hm, don't know what I'm getting so worked up about here! ... it's not like Chris is trolling FR looking for song titles, LOL! (But if you are, Chris, send me an autographed t-shirt! Woohoo!)

That's so funny ... I just got a postcard in the mail advertising Nickel Creek coming here soon. I never in this world heard of them before. Maybe I'll have to stop using the postcard as a book mark and think about attending their concert!

Re: Nickel Creek - their early stuff is more bluegrass, not as thrilled with the newer songs.

But I would go hear them again, just for that sweeeet mandolin. ":^)

for country week, what do you think he will sing?

I never care what he sings, just how he sings it, which is always good.

He seems like a hopeless romantic, so Country should be easy pickins.

Do you have any druthers?

"I do like Patsy Cline, but that, to me, is more of an oldies catagory"

So is Hank Williams, Webb Pierce or Buck Owens, but that won't stop anyone from trying.

"Catharine could not do justice to "Crazy" in a million years. She doesn't have the heart and soul for it. It was written by Willie Nelson, who does a really good version of it himself. I think Taylor could do it justice"

Katherine nailed "Think" by Aretha. Patsy would be a walk in the park for her.

And yes, anyone who knows that song also knows Willie wrote it. But Patsy made those lyrics soar.

According to a family friend: "Katharine says she is not a Scientologist."

I'd say that settles the "issue", to the extent there even is one. I seriously doubt AI voters are motivated by this allegation one way or the other.

But Katherine can be a member of the Manson family for all I care, the speed dial will be in overdrive next Tuesday.

Hopefuly she won't need it.

That is exactly what my husband said! He said what a bunch of lip syncers they are. They aren't even singing in time with the song.

Hey!!!!!! Now that's thinking! I was trying to ponder what Chris and even Tylor might sing. There is a ton of stuff in the alt.country genre that would work. I wonder if it would qualify? The person that introduced this genre to me described alt.country as the music where Merle Haggard and R.E.M. meet.

Songs like "Drown" or "Route" from Son Volt would work well for Chris as they are "rockin" type tunes. If he wanted to go softer, there are plenty of Son Volt songs to choose from as well "Windfall" and "Tear Stained Eye" are exquisitely written but not well known. Jay Farrar is a genius songwriter.

Speaking of which, that list excludes Uncle Tupelo and Wilco. Uncle Tupelo was founded by Jeff Tweedy and Jay Farrar who split the vocals. Farrar left ot form Son Volt and Tweedy founded Wilco. Wilco has received critical acclaim for their past few records. I just like Farrar and Son Volt a little more.

Also not on tat list are Drive By Truckers, Government Mule, and The Jayhawks to name just a few. Ryan Adams was the lead singer of Whiskeytown before he went solo. Another brilliant songwriter. If this type of "country" is allowed, there could be some great options for Taylor and Chris.

That's a good list. They got it right on Uncle Tupelo and Son Volt (Son Volt just released a new record end of last year). I had also forgotten about Steve Earle. He a crazy leftist whacko (wrote the Johnny Walker Lindh Blue's song) but he can write a song. Earlier stuff is great.

Just recently got into Lyle Lovett. That joker can write a sing a sing the hell out of it. Great stuff.

Teri Hatcher seems like a nice gal. I understand she's had some tragedy in her life. For some reason, I like Ryan. He reminds me of a young Dick Clark from "American Bandstand".

I even like Simon, although his advice to the contestants is often contradictory.

When he sang to Simon, his mouth didn’t match up at that time to what we were hearing.

It could be that the audio was running a half-second behind the video--that happens sometimes. Not that I would doubt Shakira would lip-synch.

Taylor doing "Crazy"? That might work--and I think he would be better at it than McPhee. But "Crazy" is so overused ... I hope nobody sings it.
