RECENTLY we managed to spend some time using a Vista machine. The machine had Athlon 4000+ and 2 GB of memory with Geforce 7800 GTX card. We installed a game and we didnt have anything else than Far Cry at the moment. We wanted to check how much memory you actually will need to play games on Vista. We know it is a beta, but it will at least give you a feeling what could you expect from the final one.

That line is very very sad. And the pic even shows that the only thing running is a single instance of IE, which technically is always running anyways with the way windows is designed around it.
No matter how fast these technology companies make their hardware, microsoft will find a way to slow it all down again.
Computer makers love Microsoft, because they force people to upgrade their computers.
It's pretty sad commentary to make a note that my current computer will run DOOM 3, but it won't run vista.

My first Amiga 500 could boot the entire color GUI AmigaDOS from a single 512Kb floppy.
It's not all bad, it just requires someone who actually cares.
MS doesn't. Not only is linux beating MS at releases, but releases that don't require super computers as a foundation.
