Given what they cost today, you are right. This is a hangover from the days when they were expensive. I manage a T&QC Lab. Even though its a Fortune 500 company, equipment takes time. People are testing and on deadlines, so anything that works quickly is a good thing. At home, I'd just go buy a new keyboard :-)
