The Pats offered him the highest contract ever for a kicker, despite him being the 20th ranked kicker in the NFL last year...The Dolts exceeded that by $500K a year.

So the Patriots didn't bring enough money to the table. Like I said--seems like they didn't think he was worth the salary cap hit.
