I've only had one comment pulled, and that was just a misunderstanding.
If I were serious, I would have had to overlook the fact that the sequence of posts was (and is) unbroken. I'm not saying that it couldn't happen, though.
It was my understanding--or maybe, misunderstanding--that having a post pulled meant either suspension or banishment.

No, any comment can be removed.
Many are removed at the request of the poster. When one makes a particularly egregious or embarrassing mistake for example.
It doesn't help always. Then you get speculation about what the missing post or message was.
The other category are messages that are uncivil, unkind, or unproductive in other various ways. Longevity gives some protection, but not carte blanche.
