Hello again, once again from Mexico City. The dang Internet was unavailable at the hotel and I wasn't able to get to one in town.
Cozumel (and Playa del Carmen/Cancun on the Mainland have made an amazing recovery.
I am probably going to post up a vanity on what I saw and experienced -- but one thing I learned stays with me. The workers in those cities were handed shovels and worked WITHOUT PAY to restore the cities. They were told, "if you don't work you don't eat." Apparently they were fed but that was about it. And to a person there are extremely proud of how they restored the resorts, a shovelful at a time.
Quite a difference from the crybabies we have in still-mostly-destroyed NOLA. Dinkins showed them the way -- cry until you get someone else to takee car of you.
