Too bad only the idiot "my dog is nice and would never do that" pittbull owners still believe that.
Yes, it's amazing how adamantly some of pit bull owners will deny that these dogs are inherently agressive and consider it all a stereotype or just "a bad rap" these dogs are given, caused solely by their irresponsible owners. Some of the pit bull owners I've met seem to have chosen the breed because of its image, and also to prove to themselves what a good dog owner they are. I always hear about how "gentle" and "harmless" their particular dog is. Yeah right.
It's the unpublicized accounts that I know of that tell me that the "it's just about the owner" argument has no teeth (pun intended).

A friend of mine had a pittbull. Here is what he says to people that have them and think they will never turn vicious.
Mine cost me over $15,000. I used to say the dog was gentle as a kitten, would never hurt anyone. Then it attacked an 8 year old girl. She was not hurt bad but the dog pit her face and the $15,000 was for the bill to fix the scare. Had I not gotten to the dog, it would have kept attacking her. She did nothing to provoke it. I shot the dog myself.
Of course, I paraphrase. But that is pretty darn close to the way he put it when I raised my objections about pittbulls. I did not even know he had had one.
