In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

crapulous \KRAP-yuh-lus\, adjective
1. Suffering the effects of, or derived from, or suggestive of gross intemperance, especially in drinking; as, a crapulous stomach.
2. Marked by gross intemperance, especially in drinking; as, a crapulous old reprobate.

Example sentence:
The new money was spent in so much riotous living, and from end to end there settled on the country a mood of fretful, crapulous irritation.
-- Stephen McKenna, Sonia

Etymology: Crapulous is from Late Latin crapulosus, from Latin crapula, from Greek kraipale, drunkenness and its consequences, nausea, sickness, and headache.

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Just thought it was a made-up word, until I read it had a real home in Webster's.
BTW, my husband read the dictionary, "FOR FUN" when he was younger. And I say, go figure...

My neighbors Stanislaus and Stashu taught me lots of polish slang. Stan's dog was named dupa.

My italian neighbors had a dog named Cazza.

Growing up on the poor side of the tracks was interesting to say the least. My portugese neighbors celebrated Easter by an early morning rabbit hunt to catch Easter dinner.
