In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
crapulous \KRAP-yuh-lus\, adjective
1. Suffering the effects of, or derived from, or suggestive of gross intemperance, especially in drinking; as, a crapulous stomach.
2. Marked by gross intemperance, especially in drinking; as, a crapulous old reprobate.
Example sentence:

-- Stephen McKenna, Sonia
Etymology: Crapulous is from Late Latin crapulosus, from Latin crapula, from Greek kraipale, drunkenness and its consequences, nausea, sickness, and headache.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
A+ feathery one!
That's probably true, Miss Slip. As crapulous as the rest of me.
:^)
And Miss Slippy will be rooting for the Spurs and the Predators tonight. ;)
the story revolves around a chess set that was supposedly commissioned by Charlesmagne, that is eagerly sought after throughout history for the mysterious formula that it supposedly contains that is a great source of power. Some of the characters who appear are Nap. Bonaparte, Muamar Khaddafi, Catherine the Great of Russia, Talleyrand of France, William Blake and William Wordsworth appear in it as well. it is fascinating, and has a math/sci aspect to it as well.
The Whyisa's never here anymore. Pretty slack.
That's good to know. Thanks for the post.
OH! BARF!! YOU GUYS!!
wherever she is, you can bet she is up to NO GOOD...
Hmmmm. I wonder if that would have been one of the chess sets that had pages instead of bishops.....
That's it! Now I have a hymn for an earworm!
Thanks.
They were shimmying down the ropes from 50 Black Hawks! Before that they had planes with .90 mm, .40 mm guns and gatlin guns to protect the 101st. Been planned for a long time.
oh no, it has chess pieces, the formula is very complex....people die trying to acquire it and to decipher the formula.
Don't forget to tell them about the penguins!
Really? That's some book xsmommy and I were talking about with the car chases and chess pieces and stuff.
Well, you won't be seeing much of me for the next two days. I'll be able to post tomorrow's class, but that may be aboot it. The geniuses had a couple of months to prepare some stuff for a couple of clients, so of course they left it until the last second, being occupied with more important matters like lunch, leaving early, "working from home", etc. Sheesh. It'll be hitting my desk any minute now.
i had no idea what you were talking about as there are no penguins in the book and even the nuns with their wimples have a very marginal role~ The chess set, called the Montglane Service, was hidden for centuries in Montglane Abbey, the Abbess sends the pieces out with various nuns to keep the pieces safe before the bad guys come.
Dern tootin'.
