A friend of mine was shrimping in Prince William Sound in Alaska one February. His boat had a large work deck surrounded by a high galvanized pipe frame covered by canvas.

Upon retrieving one of his shrimp pots he found that most of the shrimp inside had been eaten by an octopus that got in with them. This naturally angered him so he pulled the octopus out and hung it on one of the re-bar hooks that was welded to the pipe frame figuring he would deal with it later after he had retrieved the rest of his pots.

After collecting his pots and stowing the shrimp he remembered the octopus. He looked at all of the hooks around the pipe frame and couldn't remember where he had hung that critter but regardless, it was not to be seen. However, there was a bucket seemingly suspended near a hook which he did not remember hanging there. He pulled it down and lo and behold, there was the octopus, still hanging on the hook.

While he was involved retrieving his shrimp pots, the octopus had stretched its tentacles as far as the deck and picked up a bucket to hide inside of. My friend was so amazed by this that he put the octopus back over the side and told me he never killed another one unless it was to eat.

Now you read this story and look at that video and tell me there is not a God who made such an amazing creature!

Octopi are AMAZING. I mean just take the video. How does the octopus know EXACTLY how to colorize itself and appear to take on the exact same texture as that plant? I saw one documentary where the octopus even disguses itself as a sea snake.
