Interesting that the "lake" in the second photo is so vividly marked by concentric (meteor-like) ridges around a central hole.
This whole Canadian Shield area, uncovered so long, and scraped clean only by glaciers but little other erosion and mountain building, is a living testimony to past impacts on the surface.

Just checked this out on Google Earth. Fascinating.
There are other arc-like structures nearby. Not familiar with the Minnesota geology but this looks similar to batholith intrusions in the Sierra Nevada.
