In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
Hobson's choice \HOB-suhnz-CHOIS\, noun:
A choice without an alternative; the thing offered or nothing.
Example sentence:
Fagan's defense revolves around his insistence that he faced a Hobson's choice and had to act.
-- Laura Parker, "Discovery of daughters never followed by reunion," USA Today, May 11, 1999
Etymology: The origin of the term Hobson's choice is said to be in the name of one Thomas Hobson (ca. 1544-1631), at Cambridge, England, who kept a livery stable and required every customer to take either the horse nearest the stable door or none at all.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Public Schools once so great,
now they are degrading.
Teaching once a noble profession,
now filled with liberal indoctrinating.
Reading, writing and arithmetic,
now replaced with diversity training.
Global warming and liberal claptrap
round out their educating.
Our children all trapped in these schools,
with no choice to escape failing.
School vouchers could have saved the day,
but hope of that is fading.
Rich liberals, they can send their children
to schools of their own choosing.
But the rest of America is doomed,
with a Hobson's Choice their undoing.

Good one. We caught the end of Caddyshack last night. Rodney was hilarious in that movie.

It's turning into a nightmare. I would like to read something objective about the ports for a change. Where were all the screaming meemies when Late for a Dirtnap gave away the Panama Canal? A+ for you.
