Michael Dell, chairman of Dell Inc. believes in offering Linux on the desktop, server, and workstation. What he doesn't believe in, for now, is giving Linux full support on the desktop. In an exclusive interview, Dell explained his company's Linux desktop strategy to DesktopLinux.com's Steven J. Vaughan Nichols.
"People are always asking us to support Linux on the desktop, but the question is: 'Which Linux are you talking about?'," Dell asked.

Dell got very rich and very famous selling computers that run Windows. He knows most of the Linux crowd builds their own boxes and despise the future (DRM). Obviously based onhis actions he cares little for their supposed plight, nor should he.
Well, it's not like he had much of a choice once he got into the business. It was Windows only or go broke.
Obviously based onhis actions he cares little for their supposed plight, nor should he.
He should, and does, care about profit. He sees profit in selling preloaded Linux, but won't do it now due to the distro turf wars. RTFA for a change.
Which make his denials here that they exist ALL the more hypocritical.
Do you know what a "distro zealot" is?
I don't think anyone's denied that the irrational political Stallman-type zealots exist. He has even referenced them in previous posts directly to you, solidly refuting your claim of denial. I certainly don't deny their existance, as you are a prime example, albeit on the other side.
Your quote "link" was quote "about" the quote "debate" about the quote "new" version of the quote "GPL". I don't quote "see" your quote "point". What does that quote "have" to do quote "with" this quote "thread"?
He's obviously a zealot himself, looking for "recruits" for "the cause", then hiding under his little blue blanket when questioned about it.
I'm just here to point out the fanaticism of these people, which obviously isn't hard to do.
Tsk, tsk... You forgot to say "quote" before using quotation marks in that last post. You're quote "slipping".
He admits that. He also admits he recruits by letting the quality of the software speak for itself, and disapproves of ideological persuasion. There's a difference between a proponent ("You should see this TV show. You'll love it! You'll be hooked!") and an ideological fanatic ("You are a commie if you watch that TV show!"). The former is him, the latter, you.
I'm just here to point out the fanaticism of these people
Yet igoring your own.
Ridiculous, I'm not the one ramming something down people's throats that's tied to communism - as stated on communism.org - by creating BS threads every day or worrying about "recruits" to "the cause". Instead I only recommend American owned software, not software shared with the UN in some sort of worldwide socialist dream, and if you prefer the latter, I'm sure you'll fit right in with halfman's recruits.
Ramming? Suggesting to someone that they might try an alternative because it'll be cheaper and may work better is not "ramming."
Instead I only recommend American owned software,
Thus making you the ideological zealot (recommending software not on merits, but on ideology) and him the sensible proponent (recommending software on merit alone).
Does Golden Eagle participate anywhere else on FR? I only ever see him being the solo Windows/M$ zealot on a OSS related thread. (yes, there are sympathizers, but only he has dictated the role of the quote "zealot")
Ask zeugma for his handy-dandy little chart detailing the distribution of GE's posts. It's quite informative.
Only because there's so many moonies around here like halfman, antirepublic, redcloak, shadowman, etc that ram this stuff down our throats constantly. When I point out their BS, and the ties between OSS and the UN/DNC/PRC etc, all they do is attack me personally and continue their denials of the obvious.
Rarely. He mainly hangs around tech threads hoping BillG will one day give him an "attaboy."
When have quote "we" ever tried to quote "ram" anything down your quote "throat"?
More threads every day, linux linux linux, most of them not even being true. This particular thread is a follow up to 2 others where the Linux pushers lied and insisted that Dell sold Linux preinstalled on desktop computers for home use, which was bunk to begin with, was even admitted by the author of the articles, yet the copyleftist fanatics still insisted otherwise.
From mid December to mid January or so, we had a month's respite from his trolling the threads. This was during the big worm threat in MS-Windows that would allow someone to post an image on a site such as FreeRepublic and have it compromize MS-Windows systems. Despite the nature of the discussions, they were generally civil and informative for those reading the threads.
I find it to be interesting that even on issues that could easily become seriously contentious, without GE's trolling, the threads didn't degenerate into name-calling and flames.
Yes, please do check my posting history, so you can see where I've consistently blown your attempted BS completely out of the water. Happened again just today, as a matter of fact.

There's a connection, one of his main paranoias is China getting Linux for free. Selling them an OS is okay, but letting them have one for free isn't.
