If some people reported hearing a 'boom' then the comet didn't pass by, it exploded in the atmosphere. Im not an astronomer, but perhaps the actual comet may have been in orbit for months, slowly disintegrating, till it fell down and exploded in the atmosphere.

Well that would certainly be a good trick that only aliens could perform I would think.

But Why?? LOL! Is this some kind of alien parlor trick to humor the other aliens? These must be some really bored aliens, or maybe cosmic parlor tricks is all they are good for.., LOLOL
