Men steal, strangle pet terrier named Princess

Associated Press

OAKLAND, Calif. - Two men stole a Yorkshire terrier named Princess at gunpoint from a couple in the lobby of an apartment building and strangled the pup as they fled, police said.

"If these types of individuals can do this to a small, helpless animal, what are they capable of doing to a human being?" said Oakland Police Officer Bradley Miller. The men are being sought by police for robbery and could also face animal cruelty charges.

Lea Dunn, 25, and her boyfriend were taking a friend home Thursday night when the men entered the lobby of the friend's apartment complex. Princess was walking unleashed.

One of the men picked up Princess inside the lobby and showed the dog to his friend. She said it was obvious he wasn't just admiring the dog.

Dunn tried to wrest Princess away, but the second man pulled a gun. Dunn said she heard the gunman say, "Don't get yourself killed."

The men left with Princess, while Dunn and her boyfriend followed. Dunn said she was screaming.

Dunn said she saw one of the men put Princess on the ground about a half-block away. When she and her boyfriend reached Princess, the dog was dead.

Dunn said the men might have wanted to steal Princess because she looked valuable. Police are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to arrests.

Poor thing. That's mean even for a rat on Rogaine.

Then why did they immediately kill her? Nope, these pukes just wanted something to kill. ....and they risked serious jailtime to do it.

Rats don't bark (let alone incessantly). :)

This sounds like a professional hit.

Although I would never succumb to the temptation (I think), living next door to one which yaps 24/7 can certainly induce a valid "insanity" defence.

Or the hiring of a hit squad...

The charge should be armed robbery.

Yeah, maybe an irate neighbor, sick of the yapping, hired someone to do this.

I don't like those little yapper dogs, but these bastards should get many swift kicks in the head as punishment.

They didn't quite grasp how fragile these little dogs are, and she was trying to bite the creep who was holding her, and he squeezed tighter. These guys should be unceremoniously strangled when they're caught.

Yes. And in an earlier episode she inquires about how much it would cost to knock off a couple of cats. Not much of a Pet Person...
