'Muslim Madonna' - Brace for another muslims' riot, bloodshed
Feb 24, 2006
Muslim pop singer Deeyah has irked the Muslim world with her provocative new music video that shows her stripping off a burka to reveal her bikini-clad body.

Deeyah claims, the video, What will be? deals with Muslim women's rights and female empowerment, as it also features Muslim women who have fought for freedom of expression.
The singer, who was born in Norway but moved to the UK after her act alienated her from the Muslim community, has been forced to cancel performances and hire a team of bodyguards after inciting anger from British Muslims as well.
"I can't walk around without bodyguards. I would be lying if I said abuse from religious fanatics did not upset or scare me," the 28-year-old, dubbed as the 'Muslim Madonna' was quoted by Contactmusic, as saying.
Asian music TV network B4U TV dropped the video after receiving complaints.
"We played the video a couple of times and then did not play it again. We had threats which we were forced to take very seriously. These things are sensitive issues," an employee said.

You are forgetting WHO made the video and WHY it was made and WHO it was made for . It's a promo to sell records. Give her credit for having the balls to do what she did.
First, this video is for kids, not for us Freepers who wouldn't listen to rap music if you paid us.
But Middle Eastern kids love rap music (for better or worse), including American rap music. They're receptive to it and can do that rapper-imitiation thing as well as any American kid (saw it with my own eyes in Iraq).
Unlike American rap, this one has an honest message, which is that they don't like the tyranny of Muslim culture. Toward the end, the black rapper even says something like "we don't believe this in the West".
I thought it was pretty positive, and - sorry - I can't get too exercised about Seeyah's bod being displayed.
She's an excellent singer, and probably in the top 5 sellers.
Right up there with Elissa.
Lebanese women always turned my head. Usually until I smacked into a telephone pole or sign.
Hell yea.
We have to prevent that from happening. I fear this may be similar to WWII China, as the Chinese were busyt fighting the Axis powers, Communism was allowed to spread unchecked. If we destroy Islamofascism only to see it replaced by immoral and decadent hedonism or, God forbid, the Communistic taint, then we would have lost a major part of the global culture wars.
You got it ....
I'm with you two. These women look like they're volunteering for membership in Sheik al-Sleezi's harem, not striking a blow against fundamentalist Islam (which has a serious pornography problem). It's just the other side of the same coin.
Many are pawns of the Devil, yet know it not. I commend her messae but condemn vehemently her choices.
One battle at a time my friend. With freedom as we have here there will ALWAYS be those who go to the edge with their morality. It's part of the deal .
Dad!
Mom said you were dead!
Check that, all these women would make me run head-long into a telephone pole. Willingly.
;-)
Belly dancing is ten times better than the BS we put up with from the eMpTyVision and hippie cultists of hedonism.
I beg to differ.
It makes half a dozen statements, and they're all crammed right down the throat of Muslim culture. They've even got the black guy rapper defending freedom of expression by the West.
To say "it's nothing more than a music video" is to say "they're nothing more than cartoons" or "it's nothing more than a little art film called 'Submission'".
There is considerable bravery in this little video which is "made to sell records".
not striking a blow against fundamentalist
Sure is ..Im sure a lot of Islamo-fanatics crapped their robes when they saw this ..It's a slap in the face for sure.
I agree..You seemd to be saying it's a shame it didnt go even further ..again ..Strong message and I applaud her..BUT it's also a music video ..and couldn't get too serious
Thank you for that statement :)
I think we got our post crossed here my friend..we are in total agreement..Someone here complained that the video wasen';t serious enough ..It's for kids ..The message is strong and I applaude her for having balls to make it
Yes....knew there was an agenda in it.
Sounds like your point is that you don't like youthful, talented hotties who also have a revolutionary message to bring to their peers and their culture, using the music and presentation that engage them.
