Am I to understand that much liquid refreshment was consumed (or am I just showing how much of a drunk Aussie I really am? ;-)

Nighty-night! Sleep well. And don't let the bedbugs...

(Aw no, wait. That was New York City.)

"My dear old 1988 GM Holden Astra's been running strangely ..."

Is that by any chance fuel injected? I've heard that it is not a good thing to let them run completely dry.

Unfortunately, I don't know what you'd have to do to "prime the pump" again.

We only drank ordinary ice tea. Of course, if he wants to embellish the story, my memory could be faulty.

The consumption-of-mass-quantities line comes from "The Coneheads." It's what they called eating.

Yup, it's fuel-injected. And thanks for confirming my suspicions (I've been thinking that's what happened).

We have any mechanics here? Anyone?

Mmmm... food. Now you've piqued my interest!

Pray tell, what was on the menu?

LOL.

There aren't too many New York City hoodlums left.

Except for those smokers.

Unt Herr Bloomberg vill take care oft doze deviants!

Seriously though, this all sounds very exciting.

Not the procedural, paper-shuffling aspect, that's probably a total pain in the arse.

First things first:

My search indicates that the Holden is related to the Nissan Pulsar, and a description of ultrasonically clening them is shown here.

There was also mention of possible damage to a fuel pump, and the possible need to replace filters, et cetera.

Dinner consisted of soup, salad, filet of flounder with crab stuffing, and escorted by the edible portions of shrimp. We managed to choke most of it down.

clening ... cleaning

My left little finger is weak, but not from hunger.

(Also I gotta remember when typing your screenname that you're a double D.)

NicknamedBob: At least the screenname recognition when posting at FR appears to have improved in the last couple of years. (I often type an underscore into your name, which the program thankfully ignores.) "Double D"... *Snort* My first thought was of bra cup sizes, and I thought to myself, "Ha! Chance would be a fine thing! I'm only a B..." - until I cottoned on to your meaning.

Sounds like my own brain is weak from hunger! (Not to mention frazzled at the mentio of technical car stuff - thanks for that link, by the way. And you're spot-on - the Holden Astra 1988 model was not just RELATED to the Nissan Pulsar, it was in fact the Nissan Pulsar, rebadged, with a GM engine. A good reliable car - at least until recently, anyway... agh, my own damn fault... *curses own foolishness*)

Shapka: You're right, the paperwork involved in immigration is a tremendous P.I.T.A. Never mind that I've done some of this before; it never seems to get any easier. Or less confusing. Grr. (My poor S.O. is hunched over the other laptop as I write, scrolling through page after page of U.S. immigration law - I've told him that in gratitude, after I've qualified as a Mental Health Case Worker, I'm going to send him back to college to study Law. Then when he's an Attorney, I'll consider studying some more myself, to become a Psychologist, the way he thinks I should...)

How's wee Vlad's jaundice? I had an idea about being able to put him out in the sun without freezing him to death.

Off to get coffee. Be back soonly.

(sarc)Yeah... Maybe we'll try that. We've been having problems with the "stress out and hate what you are doing" method. (/sarc) :-)

We needed a break last night, so I got a full nights sleep. Ok... SHE needed a break. ;-) I still think her "early this week" calculations are off and that tonight or tomorrow are our best bets. But, never having gone through such cycles personally, I am probably wrong...

Then again, it was HER sense of timing and thinking things were "safe" that helped us to create Ana...
