Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Most hotels do... just not here. They want you to order coffee from room service so they can charge $12 for it.
Some of the Hotels in Vegas don't have coffee pots either, and they're nice places... but they want you to get out of your room, come down and get breakfast, and commence to gambling...

Sheesh. Don't they know the dangers of letting folks out of their rooms without caffeine?
In other news, Florida continues to get more interesting.

Yeah, the more spendy places often don't have the coffee pots, so you'll order it from room service.
I *personally* am looking forward to Friday night in Virginia Beach. Wife has a business event and her boss wants spouses there. I'm going down early on Friday to visit my mom's sister and then I'm gonna go play at the hotel whilst everyone else is still businessocializing.

The things I miss out on by living in Iowa....

And here I figured that you should expect to have those conveniences at the spendier places. Unbelievable.
I'm truly a bumpkin. ;-)

Nah, you're no bumpkin. It prolly depends on the establishment/chain.
I don't get to stay in the spendy places anymore. I only know what wife tells me.
~sigh~ when I used to spend $2.5 million a year to plan conventions and parties for other people, I'd get the royal treatment.
True story: After we moved to Richmond, first time we went to a "regular" hotel, Jr. (five at the time) walked in and said "We can't stay here. There's no living room."

I'm sure Jeb wouldn't mind shipping some weirdos out there for ya, if you asked. ;-)

I found that out. I always have trouble getting pocket knives sharp enough to make smooth cuts. The Hobbit Hole knife cured that problem.
That knife will be reserved for grafting and budding only. It's another way to make sure I don't get any oil or other harmful fluids into the open limbs.

Yeah, I'd feel a bit cramped in there too.

Well... it *is* fair to say I probably wouldn't stay here if there was a decent alternative. This area around the office is sort of a wasteland hotel-wise. The only other choice is an "Inn of America" which is a supposedly bargain chain, and they don't have a restaurant or room service, but they're not much cheaper.
The only thing I really look for in a hotel is that they've got their own restaurant so I don't have to run around after work to get some chow.

What did I just walk into? Ungh...
Good morning! Actually been up for awhile, but hadn't had a chance to sit down until now.
And I may have found a fridge, if I can find a time today to sneak off and call the guy before someone else grabs it. It's a bit over what I'd hoped to pay, but only ten years old and sounds like a pretty nice Whirlpool.

You over there? Haven't seen, nor heard a peep out of ya this morning :~D
