This is my exact post:
"Hi, I've been following this thread as I'm interested in CTR.
The question that "Becky" asked was what are the rules regarding abuse
during a competition. The answer that "Linda" gives explains her
methods of discipline and going to any lengths to get a horse to do
what she wants. Well, during a competition, are there not rules
regarding what type of discipline is acceptable and any deviation from
it requires disqualification? In other words, beat the snot out of
your horse at home if you want but in a competition, it's against the
rules."

Unless it goes in the net it's hard to challenge decisions sometimes.

During the pig competion during 4H one year there was this frustrated teenage boy that couldn't get his pig to walk where he wanted in (in the eyes of the judge) He kept hitting him with his crop and was stripping the poor animal. We in the audience were not amused. It was kind of funny though because the kid finally stopped but every time the judge would go to check out this very nice pig the audience would make a "no" noise. He still placed him about 6th but gave a public lecture to the kids after wards about treating animals without cruelty regardless of where they were going to end up. I don't know if we kept him in the low numbers or the judge picked him just to let us know he was "boss". though
