Be sure you get the kind made for horses.

I bet your feed store carries some. Mine does.

On the google site I looked at, I saw a single dose tube for $6.99 or a 4lb tub, 82 doses, with syringe for $29.99,

That's just one brand, but gives you an idea.

Duchess might know more about them since they endurance ride.

We have electrolytes around all of the time, I think I get it from Valley Vet. It's $6.95 per tube there (I just checked to see what kind I have) for Ener-G Plus. We use it sometimes after foaling or stress or a real hard work-out. We don't use it on endurance rides, I didn't think it was allowed, but the horses really should be in shape without it. We would probably use it if one of the horses got into bad shape, but we'd also pull the horse.

It would be a good thing to have on hand for some kind of emergency or unforeseen circumstance (excessive heat or something) but I don't think Bay would need it on normal trail rides.

Now - that's just my opinion, lots of people use them.
