The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

We only have had one foal born here on the farm.We imprinted him,and he is just great.He was out of Hollywood,and is 4 years old now.He's real playful,but not in a mean way.Likes to hold my coat sleave in his mouth but doesn't bite.He's had all his ground work training,and we are starting him under saddle this spring.I was not satisfied that his knees were ready last year and we were under no pressure to start him so we waited the extra year.Becky is excited to get riding on him.

We generally don't start any of ours until they are three and a couple of them we've waited a little longer. It never hurts, they are still growing physically and mentally :)

Now I'm anxious to see pictures of them.

He is a big boy. Is he going to be a trail horse or will he be cutting/reining? I really like the way snapfish.com works for posting pictures, but if you have a website, you can snag the pictures right off of it.

I call the lead rope my snake rope.

My DIL has several of them - she's into zebra stripes.

SL used to act like all ropes were snakes. Now she just ignores them. I started out just msking her drag or walk over them and then started moving them. I would like to let a grass snake loose but I would probably hurt her trying to get out of the way.

Well I'm gonna go take a nap. I don't know why but lately I get exhausteed from about 6pm to 11 or 12. Thn I get all perked up and don't want to go to bed and am staying up half the night.
