The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

The only good thing about Denver is there's a smoking area for those that are amping for a smoke. My brother has been known to make a Denver connection even when it's not really on the way :~D

In the end it doesn't make a lot of difference, all airports are pretty well marked for dealing with lost tourists :~D

The times are fine, we can make anything work, we're flexible :~)

I'm just glad it's all finalized! This is gonna be a fun saddle moot :~D

We've got to go to town to get new spark plugs and a new blade for the mower!

LOL....I think you have time:)

Dang, my heart is pounding, I wish I could just wiggle my nose, and skip the plane.

So, does will you keep the horse, Kat, at your house while I'm there?

How long is the trip from your place to Mt. St. Helens?

I'm really excited:)

I hope you can get a window seat and just enjoy the sights on the flight. I'm a pilot, and I still just gaze out the window the whole way. I never get tired of that.

I've been trying to find out what kind of planes I will be on, the seat number is already picked:\

Mack checked out the kinds of plane but I forgot to ask, and it doesn't say on the papers he printed for me.

I'll probably go get Kat the day before so we don't have to take time to do that while you're here. Yeah - she'll just stay here for the duration. She can be in the back forty by herself. She's lived with the pony before, but no point in risking scrapes by putting her in with the others, she has never liked Bay anyway ;~D.

The trip to Mt. St Helens... it's a couple hours to the edge of the volcanic monument area, and then a long road in full of sights and stops along the way... it ends up being a whole day trip :~D

Those flights I bet if you didn't get a window assigned, you can ask for an open one when you're at the gate, or even switch on the plane if it's got a lot of empty seats. It's not like a ball game where the usher kicks you out if you moved to a better seat :~).

I think, I'll be in window seats to and from Dallas, and on the aisle to/from Dallas to Seattle:\, I'll switch if I can.

I knew you had said that Bay and Kat didn't get along, I wondered if that would be a problem.

OK - seasoned business travelers like the aisle better, because you have more elbow room and you don't have to climb over everyone, so if you automatically got an aisle, the flight might be fairly lightly booked. Just ask them at check in :~)

So, is there anything else on the agenda you think I "should" do. Remember, we're going to fly by the seat of our pants, nothing specific, just curious. I don't mind just hanging out.

Well, it depends on what you might have a curiosity to see!

There's other day trips we could take, to see the Pacific Ocean (it's noisier and more surf than the Atlantic is) or to visit and see our beach house might be a fun afternoon, we could take you on a boat ride in the sound. Or Mt. Rainier if you wanted to see mountains and old growth timber... Or the coastal rainforest if you wanted to see long hanging mossy things. If you wanted to see city, we could see Seattle...

And, most importantly, at least 3-4 good trail rides :~D

City,,,,nah:), no offense of course.

But it sounds like we could really stay busy. The trail rides sound great:), your beach house sounds nice too, I thought the pictures were beautiful:)

We'll just see how we feel as we go.

I hate the city, I don't want to go there :~)

I uploaded some pics of Kat... Yes, ecurbh rode her on his first trail ride ever :~D

She's a pretty classically typical QH, probably 15 hands. I think she may be in her upper teens now. They get older before you realize it.

Here she is at Tiff's trailer...

She's as broke as they come... better than Tiff's son deserves, really. :~D

I think maybe the lady I spoke to about the bridle might be a freeper:') She called me back this morning and said she got the e-mail about the change and said something about she didn't know why she didn't catch it when packaging. I'm still getting a pay check so I told her to send me a brown halter and black leads. I'm gonna keep the brown.

She looks like a nice horse.

I came to town. Man did it rain. Wish I had my camera, there was a hole in the clouds above our heads that was spinning.
