This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
When he is ready to hear, pass on my sympathies and remind him that Hoagie is waiting at the bridge :(
I will :~)
Awww, dang. Sorry to hear about Hogie. ~sniff~
But speaking of going riding with Bob, I have the 19th and 20th off. :~D
Has Bob seen your pictures?
I'm sorry to hear the sad news. Will keep him in my thoughts.
Becky
I think he has :~D
I wrote up some thoughts with the pictures that I sent to Kay, maybe she'll print it for him, since computers are something he doesn't do :~)
Thanks. It's sad... he loved that mule almost as much as I love Bay... It's inevitable that we'll grieve the ones that are special to us.
Hoagie sure was a fine lookin' fella and I'm so sorry for Bob's loss. Like you say, we've all gotta cross that bridge with our pets some day and all we can hope for is that we do right by them. I know that Bob knows that he did the right thing but it never gets any easier.
No, it doesn't.
My honey came home early... You'd think we could come up with something better to do than mowing, but mowing is what I'm headed out to do. Maybe a ride later.
Well, anything is fun as long as your sweetie's doing it with you. Y'all have fun and don't get too hot. Seeya tomorrow!
There is NO WAY that anybody could fail to see that there was something Bad Wrong with that horse. So if the vet doesn't confirm the story about the illness/contaminated feed, I would run not walk to the ASPCA or other local animal welfare group.
If the horse is really sick though, I can sympathize with the guy. I have a cat slowly going down with cancer, and he looks like he just spent a stint in Dachau. He's literally a walking skeleton despite our best efforts to tend to him.
What are yall doing? I've been watching old people on tv dance to the Polka for the last hour :')
OMG, and it didn't put you right to sleep?
I went out to eat with my husband at our favorite restaurant. It is still 91 degrees here at 8:30 PM. I don't know what the official high was but anything over 95 is just TOO FREAKIN' HOT!
I am saving up my TV time for tomorrow night when the Miami Heat comes to Dallas to play my Mavericks in game 1 of the NBA Finals!! First time in the finals for both teams. I think all of us Mavs fans are still in shock that we actually made it.
Just got back inside after putting the horses up. I have to bring them over from next door where they are helping my neighbor mow his 2 acres.
Tomorrow morning I will ride. I need to work Henkell because we have a clinic next weekend (not the one coming up). If I have time, I'll tune Jake up too before it gets too hot to ride.
Well, I rode this morning, spent the afternoon with Jenny, lunch and shopping, watched JP a little in the late afternoon so Kristy could ride, and just now finished lunging Harley....Busy day.
I still have to feed, and muck his stall, but taking a break.
Becky
Actually I enjoyed watching them. Most of the ones I see are ill. It was good to see them cutting the rug.
I don't know if it's good for me to keep RDF on while I work:')
There is a small dog that someone dumped at my church. I tried to catch her but we didn't quiet get there tonight. She had a bag of chips and 3 piece of bologne tonight anyway. If she doesn't get run over tonight and is still around in the morning I'll get the pound to pick her up for me.

One of my best memories is my husband's Grandmother dancing the Chicken Dance at our wedding reception.
I really shouldn't diss polka bands. My FIL plays in one.
