This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
It finally stopped raining and the sun is out. I didn't make it to the gun club yesterday. With it pouring out, it was no use.
It is raining off and on here this morning:(. I had hoped to ride. I still hope to this afternoon, but it's going to be very humid now.
Becky
Morning.
Gotta get my grass cut before going to the show. If I don't, I'll need to hire some goats or sheep when I get back. We needed the water but enough is enough!
Inter County show is at Harlansburg this weekend. Will try to get some pics.
So far,so good. Actually, I am on 4 weeks vacation now, but am officially done working. There is so much to do around this house, I doubt I will get bored. Looks like we might be headed to Florida on Thursday. My SIL's brother is selling his house and needs some help with some home repairs. Granddaughter is so excited, she is packed already.
It will be a few days of sun before I can mow. Just too flat and low in my yard. If we go to Florida this Thursday and be gone for a week, we will miss the show at Harlensburg the following weekend. Yes! get pictures.
Morning :~D
Still following along :~)
I'm gobsmacked:) (I've always wanted to use that word:)
I don't get it, I'm getting a lot of supportive messages, PRIVATELY...they all seem scared to confront an issue they don't like even knowing it is ruining a sport they love....
Becky
Your post finally showed up.
Is that your real name...why'd you sign your last name?
Becky
I know the feeling, I've often felt like I was arguing alone on a thread, and I get FRMail from people saying "right on - you're right! Just wanted you to know that I agree!" in FRMail... I'd like to say "Then please join me on the thread!"
People are funny creatures.
That ain't my last name.
I just sent another one, waiting for it to be approved:
Are there set rules about beating on a horse during competition because
of a disciplinary need? If you show your horse in western pleasure and
he acts up in the arena, should they be allowed to beat the horse
because there is no way to teach competition manners at home? Should
the person place because the judges didn't see the beating, even though
other people did and reported it?
In CTR, are the rules set, or not?
LOL:)
Well you picked a good one, that is going to raise brows. There is a frequent poster by the name of Brenda Simpson:) I bet there are going to be some double takes on that one:)
Becky
OOOOOOOOOOO, good one:)
Becky
It's taking too long for my flipin' posts to get up there.
My next post:
"What about the horse that is letter perfect at home, but becomes so
excited
> it's out of control at a ride?"
Then he's not ready for competition or he's unsuitable for the sport
he's being asked to do. If the horse is out of control, he shouldn't
be around other people or horses. Period.
"I merely stated I use whatever
> is necessary to gain control."
Beat him over the head with a 2 x 4, I don't care, but if the rules
of the game say no heavy, repetitive discipline allowed, and you are
observed doing it anyway, you should be disqualified.
Well, I think I've kilt the thread again:)
My horse is saddled, I'm going to go ride and clear my head...
See you all in a bit.
Becky
I wish they would post my messages.
Both sides.
Gosh, since it's so evenly broken out all over, I'd agree it's a reaction to the spray, and not the bugs...
It doesn't appear she's as rashy on her face and neck, maybe she wasn't sprayed there?
Does she itch?
Or I'm Becky, and just wan't you to know if I come across you on this trail beating your horse, I'm gonna take this bat to you:')
