This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Ah - well it looked good from here, but I think anything goats won't eat is probably pretty bad :~\
You know every picture I have seen of your DIL, she looks so nice on a horse:). I've always noticed that:) She sits a horse as well as or better then even my kids:), and I've always thought they were the best:)
Becky
Very much agreed. :~D I'm pretty jealous of that gal. :~D
Me too:). I wish she was close around to give some pointers.
Becky
Heh... I think I know what pointer she could give me. :~D
I was watching the girls walk out of the arena yesterday and it reminded me of Wyatt Earp and/or Tombstone - isn't that odd. But they all looked so business like striding out, as did the horses. Like they could handle anything thrown at them.
Well, I'd get that too:), but it's just not that that makes her look good. She is always in such perfect postion, but it never looks forced....and I don't want to take anything away for her and say it just comes naturally, like she doesn't have to work at it...because it's obvious she has worked at great horsemanship....
I never looked like that, but after I had competed on Belle a few times and seen the judges comments, I worked hard at improving my riding seat, and I did stop losing points, but I'm back to just flopping around like a sack of #$@!:). Between now and Sept. I've really got to work on it....
Becky
OH, well maybe Bob could come polish me:)....Does he give lessons:)
Becky
It's been a long time since I rode with the primary goal of working on my position and seat. Too long probably.
Ok is like that. He moves like everyone is watching him:')
I'd rather park the truck near a good tie, than tie to the truck. Just my advice. She can wreck anything on that truck faster than you'd imagine, and there's lots of things she can catch and cut herself on in the process.
:) He doesn't give lessons per se - just enjoys teaching all his girls how to ride and can't help but correct them.
Yes, that's it exactly.
Well that old truck has gone thru 4 guys. I don't see how it could be violated much more:') I don't want her hurt though. Maybe in hindsight it wasn't such a good idea. I was right there and I had my knife though. I didn't have any other place to tie her and other horses out so I couldn't let her loose.
I really would like to show him and see how he does but I haven't figured out exactly how that works yet.
Do you want to show him in halter classes or under saddle in riding classes? Go to a couple of open shows and just watch the classes. It's really pretty easy.
I think you start by going to the tack shop and writing lots of checks :~D
I gotcha on the truck tie thing... I just warn because that's what I do :~D
I've been thinking about that. He's fun to ride but he is also such a pleasure to watch. We turned down a buyer yesterday. My husband judges them:')
That was mean:') I was wondering what the difference was between the truck and a trailer but I figured you have been doing this longer and should know. and our safety is my main priority:')
Funny about the tail gate though. She stands perfectly still while I'm all over her. That dreaded green box though. She gets in more trouble for stepping over.
