This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Awww. Did you know there were two? Any more pics?
Wow!!!! That is so cool. Doesn't happen often with such success:). Good for you. Did you know she was having twins or was it a complete surprise?
Becky
We had no idea, and thank goodness because we would have been beside ourselves..
We had two sonograms, and never saw it.
Coming right up.
Wow... surprise indeed, poor mamma! They look terrific. And BIG for twins! Must be all that size in their ancestry :~D
Keep the pictures coming :~D
That is just wonderful:)
Becky
Oh Wow, they're GORGEOUS! And the mother is too. But I just can't imagine how crowded it must've been inside of there with the both of them. Do you know if they were in separate placentas or if they shared one big one?
Heading back to the barn.
Thanks so much for the good wishes.
We're thrilled.
Will update later in the day.
Please do update :~D
I just got a call from my looney neighbor:)
She's talked her husband into letting her have the credit card. She's meeting me at the saddle shop and is going to pay the whole price for my English saddle on my new saddle.
Yeah!!! That leaves me with more then enough for my trip:). Also gets her out of my hair over this saddle:)
Becky
Isn't that incredible!!! They all look so healthy. I've never heard of twins surviving, especially not without at least there being some problems.
Becky
I think since it is a colt and a filly that there would have been two placentas.
Becky
WOO HOO! Very exciting morning :~D
That's a really great way to work it!
I wonder if she'll like it.
Separate amnion sacs, one big placenta.
They were back to back apparently, judging by the way the sacs looked.
We inspected them carefully and all was accounted for.
Everything went perfectly.
It was truly miraculous.
I've seen twin Arabs, and they were both beautiful and perfect, but smaller than they might have been otherwise... I can't really tell how big they are, but in proportion to momma, they both look about right.
Big congratulations to Wildehunt, on the birth of two beautiful foals! Everyone check out the photos.
She test rode in it one time. She liked it then. She says (she says alot actaully:), but she says she is going to take dressage lessons not to compete but to just improve her horsemanship....I've been wondering, can she take dressage in this saddle??? I know real dressage saddles are different shaped, I really doubt that she will follow thru with this she's been going to take lessons for as long as I've known her.
Becky
Yeah, that is what surprises me. They look normal size, good weight.
