The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well, here we go again. A "severe" storm warning. Lighting flashing and the darn dog fighting me about coming in.

LOL - I can see what you're describing.

My part at the shows and rides is gopher :) I get to take care of all the paperwork, write the checks and make sure the right number is on the right back going in the gate. Oh, I get to wash and iron the show clothes too and polish silver. Generally hot, busy days.

Man, I'm glad someone noticed and took care of him. He is okay now?

You were under a tornado WARNING? You ok this morning??

I missed your previous post about Okie. Let us know how he is today. Bud colics all the dang time, I think he has Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I give him 12 cc's of Banamine and so far, that's always fixed it. I think colic will eventually do him in.

That's wonderful! All that hard work sure pays off when you have that degree in your hand. You should be really proud. Congratulations!!!

Hair, I did see on the news a couple of days ago that your volcano was rumbling.

Oh beautiful pictures:). Love the mountain shot.

Hot weather will slow a horse down. Do you think Cyn was avoiding the rocks because of being barefoot? I love the pictures in the shady forrest:) Can't wait to see it real:)

I'm calling Chris at 7:30. I sure hope he can make it. Harley is really gimping around in his run:(. Once I know if he can make it today or not, I'm going to run to town and get some bute. Yes, he is that bad. I checked him yesterday for swelling, I was wondering if when he pulled the shoe off he pulled something in his pastern, but I think it's just his foot. That's bad enough.

On top of this when I was putting my bike away last night, (I think the guy is going to buy it:), I thought I had the kickstand down, but didn't and when I leaned it over it just kept going. I got my wrist mashed between the bike and the corner of the work bench. That did keep the bike from going all the way down, for which I'm thankful, and Luckily Mack was home. I'd have never gotten out on my own. But this morning I'm wondering if I haven't cracked something. When I turn my wrist up,,,,whew, it hurts. If I keep my palm down it's OK. I had to take my wedding ring off, my fingers are a bit swollen....

For mother's day Jenny got me a halter/bridle combo:). Last week when I went into the saddle shop to make a payment on my saddle I asked if they had them. They had some real nice nylon ones, but they only had red. I asked when I get ready to buy can I order the color I want and they said yes. I want black. Jenny was with me, and went back the next to to order it. It's not in yet, but she told me about it last night:)

Yeah, the storm blew threw here fast and furious. No hail that I noticed thogh. Our baby oaks are about 8 feet now. They were almost kissing the ground.

Good Morning.

Congratulations, Beaker! We have had nothing but rain, rain here too. No clearing for a few more days. No flooding yet, but it will, if this keeps up.

cjshapi, how did the horse show go? I imagine you didn't have any better weather.

Good morning... Hope Harley is better with a shoe and some Bute... and it might be good to take care of your hand a bit! Might just be bruised... Hope so.

Cool on the Halter/Bridle combo - that'll be good :~D

Cyn went off around and avoided areas where there were those golf ball sized loose rock. Could be they hurt her barefoot, could be she just doesn't like how they roll around. She was fine on all the rocky areas that were more gravel-like.

Well cool! Makes it more interesting to take tourists up there if there's a chance it might steam a little :~D

Glad Okie was better with a little Banamine... Probably ate something he shouldn't have.... And glad you didn't get swept away by a twister, yikes!

We have an old wrist brace, I stuck that on, not sure it's really helped because I can still move my arm the way it makes my wrist hurt.

I think, I'm just going to take the next 2 -3 day off and just sit. I'm a mess. My back is still hurting pretty good, now my arm, I'm sure Harley's foot could use a rest....

If Cyn is fine on gravel, then it must have been some other reason for her to avoid those area's. I've always thought gravel was the worst.

And I'm sorry if this is unpatriotic, but I'm not happy with our President, speaking right when 24 comes on:)

I know! That was dumb dumb dumb planning! Talk on Tuesday Mr. President! :~D

As for Cyn, maybe she had a bruise, it's the first time she's ever done anything like trying to go around stuff like that. She is also coming into heat, they're playing seduction games out there in the paddock this morning.

As for you! Yes, maybe take a break. The wrist brace might give some support, and a reminder to take care of it.
